13 years ago this week the Chicago Cubs traded a promising pitcher for …prospect Anthony Rizzo. Roughly 3 years later they added Jon Lester in free agency. What A+ moves have the Cubs made recently, and what could be next?

Jhoan Duran Twins Setup/Closer throws 105 with great off speed stuff. He is the Chapman of this era. You trade for that guy and the team we have can compete.
How Cubs win 2025 World Series. Trade Top 40 prospect Alcantara to Twins for Mlb's Top Closer Jhoan Duran. We have 45mil til the 1st Threshold. Sign Pete Alonso to 27mil over 4years. He's gonna play DH. You are then trading Suzuki who is a FA next year for an Elite SP, or Crazy Prospect/RP package. After trading Suzuki we can now sign Bergman to play 3B for 4yrs 110mil. So are 27mil per as well. Around 18mil left still before the 1st Threshold. We are gonna trade 10mil and Nico for either an Elite SP or RP/High Prospect package. (1 of him and Suzuki should bring back an Elite SP, the other RPs and High Prospects while also clearing salary to sign Big FAs) Matt Shaw and Triantos are playing 2B since we are going for a World Series. 1.Pca CF 2. Happ LF 3. Tucker RF 4. Pete Alonso 1B/DH 5. Bregman 3B 6. Busch 1B 7. Swanson 8. (I'm not done with Catcher) and 9. 2B Matt Shaw/Triantos. We brought in an Ace Via Trade. We built our bullpen up from Jhoan Duran to Ben Brown and made it elite. High leverage arms. Finally I'm making a Trade with the Dodgers similar to the Busch trade last year for their Elite Catching prospect who is blocked. Dodgers are looking for Cheap Bullpen so Little and a low prospect for the kid. Yes we are gonna carry 3 Catchers but that's because this kids Ceiling is Elite. He can frame very well and has a good bat. Cubs still are way under the 1st Threshold and now have a roster that can beat anyone. Of all these guys Jhoan Duran is the most important tho. 💯 We could take that extra $$$ and go add Kirby as a Setup guy if we want. Owen Cassie is the 1st guy off the bench at 1B/OF. Triantos is our Untility high Obp guy. We can win now and make bank doing it. Flip this guy for all this then use their salary to sign a player of that level or better.
