Jones never closes the holes in his swing and has a middling career.
I think the thing with Jones that people don’t realize, which is fine because most people follow college baseball or the draft, is that he has only been a full time hitter since he was 20 years old. He was a pitcher and then did both in college. A lot of people don’t get that development in baseball is not linear. It took Dellin Betances 7 years in the minors to figure it out. Took Gary 5 Sanchez years and falling off prospect lists to figure it out. It takes time and he very well may never cut down the strikeouts. But the raw power and athletic tools are there to be a legitimate 30/30 guy at the big level.
There is a fantasy world where Jones becomes the next RF and Judge learns 1B until Stantons contact ends and he finishes out as our DH. Jones definitely has to step up offensively this year if he wants to be a Yankee moving forward.
Should have traded him for Cease
Most in this sub have no clue how well he played the second half of the season. The Yankees have to hold onto Jones, it’s not easy to find power, elite speed, and sound defense in a player especially one his size
Hopefully he continues to excel and we see him in Pinstripes by 2026
He was far and away the best player on the Patriots when I went to a few game last season. I’m sure he’ll continue to improve.
At the very least, he cannot possibly be worse than Verdugo, right?
Has a much higher ceiling, plays great defense, and is cheap

Is it just me or does he have a long swing? Can this be fixed or is it just a by product of his height?
Keep the hype machine going on him so they can flip him @ the deadline.
It’s all fluff . Batting cage prospect . Period. The top 3 bats they have in the farm are Rafael Flores , Jesus Rodriguez and everson peirria. The first two floor is better utility players then who we have now when their ready (1-2yrs) and Peirra 4th OF’er with some pop . Should be available upon return from injury .
