Looks like we won the “aging pitcher” sweepstakes.
Made 26 starts last year – going 5-6 with a 4.53 ERA and 0.9 WAR.
Sure, why not.
I just hope we’re not spending too much time prioritizing guys like Martin Perez over younger pitchers if they are ready.
Otherwise for competition, veteran presence or whatever, fine.
Damn they might only lose 110 this year
More cannon fodder for the rebuilding years. Kinda reminds me of when we signed Derek Holland for some reason.
I’m for it. He was pretty good during his time in Texas
we knew the next Chris Flexen was coming and here it is. I’m fine with it
Quick look:
* Sinker/Change up/Cutter arsenal
* former All Star with TEX (2022)
* Below average walk and k rates
* Very mid GB%
* low velo
* Finds barrels instead of missing them
My take: somebody has to log innings and the guys on the farm aren’t quite there yet.
Also kind weird that this is the second signing I’ve seen where the guy has very bad extension according to Savant. Maybe Katz sees something we don’t that he thinks can be fixed? IDK.
