No trade of Arenado until Disco Music is Banned!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
He s not leaving!
At this point, I think an Arenado for Stroman deal makes sense for both teams. It also gives Arenado a chance for a World Series. Instead of paying more relievers put Hjerpe and Hence in the pen.
I want him to stay. Remember how bad the hot corner was before he got there? Pay his contract and quit whining.
Cardinals need to trade either Nootbar Donovan or Burelson w Arenado … Something like Arenado and Burelson to Boston for Casas and a Prospect … Arenado and Noot or Donovan to Philly for Bohm and a Prospect … Arenado and Siani to NY for Grisham and a Prospect.
Who wouldve thought Nolan A would be in a position like this. He is in a situation where teams may wait till the trade deadline to even think about trading for him. He has to play well for the cards for the first half and not be a distraction or cancer. He has to stay healthy and not use health as a excuse for not performing, if he is running himself out there day in and out hurt. This is a mess and not a good thing. If this is the route the cardinals have to take. Losing even half a season to evaluate 3rd base talent Donovan, Gorman, Thomas S retards the future. I was never a Nolan A fan, I have hated his swing since the very first time I saw him play for Colorado. His play at 3rd has to me been his biggest plus. He is not and has never been a club house guy or a leader. To be fair though he works on himself so much he really doesnt have time to worry about others. Only way this guy is ever going to win anything is being surrounded by a team that is already a well oiled machine.
After yesterday's episode I was kinda hoping JD would've asked Jeff what he thought of bringing in Spencer Turnbull. I'd be really interested to see what he thought of that idea!
Nolan should just prepare to be healthy and play his ass off early. He can still find a new home this spring.
The Cards should keep Arenado if Boston wants us to eat a bunch of his contract.
Yes he did have a bad year in 2024 but most of that decline was in the period before the All Star break in early July. His offense returned to normal in the period after the ASG break. He finished with a 285 BA, 16 HR’s and 71 RBI’s which is a decent rebound from a dismal first half. His defense remained excellent and among the best compared to all other MLB 3rd basemen. His BA last year was the same as his career BA (285). His HR’s were way down at 16 but if evaluated for half a season it was slightly above his career average of 30. I don’t know whether he was playing hurt during the first half of the season or if his decline was due to the fact that the Cardinals played their first half of 2024 against a lot of very strong teams. Regardless, it doesn’t appear that he is in a serious decline at age 33. It would be foolish for the Cardinals to eat any of his salary when there isn’t another third baseman in MLB with his all around offense and defensive prowess.
For example, Alex Bregman is looking for a $200 million contract and his offense last year was 269 batting average with 24 home runs which is about his average (6 lower than Arenado). Who else is out there with Arenado’s capabilities? No one to my knowledge.
I understand the owners urgency in dumping payroll because of his bad investments, but if he can’t get Arenado’s value, we should keep him and bet that his offense bounces back. If it does – which is a safe bet after seeing Goldy have an MVP season at age 34, making him a trade chip in the middle of next season would probably be much better for the Cards balance sheet even though it will totally trash our chances of moving up in the standings as well as at the gate.
I sure hope this isn’t another example of Moz shooting himself in the foot like he did with Hicks, Edman and O’Neil by announcing his urgent wish to dump a player. That’s a real dumb business move for someone with his supposed business savvy.
I would love to see him stay, but here's my concern. The drama with the trade, will Nolan A. really want to play in St. Louis? Will management treat him coldlier than they should? Not sure it would be good for either side.
What are we doing with libby
If Nolan Arenado was that good, wouldn’t one of the 6 teams to which he has agreed to be traded, have made a serious offer for him by now?
Time to get the deal done- and move on. It's the new year already.
Hope he stays
