  6. This man is delulu. Like this is the excuse we get every season! Who here is happy when we limp into the playoffs because other teams are just terrible too? I’m tired of it. First round exit. The problems of the regular season are just amplified. I’m ready to blow it all up and see what happens. But that will never occur with Lou at the helm of this team.

  8. If this is anything other than posturing to get better value for them at the deadline you have to can this guy now. Between this and the rumors of us being in on EP40 talks I have 0 faith in Lou to direct a much needed retool/rebuild. Time for somebody new behind the wheel.

    But I don’t mind keeping Nelson and having him be a career Islander. He’s been a great player for this team.

  20. The loser point really is a great way to prevent tanking because we are technically in contention while being near the bottom of the league. Artificially inflated points get GMs like Lou to buy in to a miracle run at the last wild card spot and if it somehow works we will be out in 5 games again. Sell the players that can actually get value jfc.

  22. I’m fine with this sentiment for probably about another 2-4 weeks. If we’re still in the same spot come mid-February and we’re not shopping Brock and Palms at minimum (Lee, Pageau, Casey should all be on the table as well), it’s an inexcusable failure

    This season is worse than last year. We haven’t even won 3 games in a row. We won 2 games in a row only twice. If we somehow make it, it’ll be another first round exit. Everyone is tired. I obviously love Nelson but we need to trade him and Palms. Get assets for them while you can.

  24. We’ve had this core for a long time and it hasn’t been a serious contender for years now. Hate the idea of rebuilding, but how much worse would a rebuilding team even be? It’s just salt in the wound that our prospect pool is so horrible rn. We need to face reality and get some prospect/young players before guys like Brock, who I love btw, become too old to even get anything good for.

  29. If they go 11-4 in the games leading up to the 4 Nations break they can have a conversation about being in the mix. Right now? We’re circling the drain.

    But I don’t blame Lou for the bravado here. Drury shit all over his team and lost them completely. Lou doesn’t operate like that. Lou barely operates. I’m not sure he even owns a computer.

  34. The comments on here are crazy. What did you expect the guy to say? We’re 5 points out half way thru the season and just got all our players back. He’s not gonna say we’re selling. He won’t give up on the team until closer to the trade deadline.

    I miss the days when this sub was more level headed.

  35. It will be such a relief when Lou is gone. We need new vision. In football, I’m a Washington Commanders fan, and it was absolute misery for a long time. Then new management replaced the old, and it made all the difference. There’s hope & excitement again. Isles need that, badly.

  36. Contention? The only reason the team is anywhere close to a playoff spot(and first round bounce-again) is that the division is terrible.
