  1. Sasakiis agent is using the Jays again. Let's be clear once and for all, NO bluechip player from Japan is coming to MLB to play in Toronto. NONE! They want to play in Cali or NY. The days of Japanese stars just happy to be playing in North America are done. The lower tier players may still choose other teams but the actual Allstars know their worth and know they can choose which teams.

  2. Thankfully the Jays had their sell-off at the 2024 trade deadline, in order to duck the luxury tax threshold so they wouldn't lose international signing bonus pool money by signing QO free agents. Shedding payroll to get below the threshold prepared the Blue Jays to spend this offseason, but we're not seeing the spending!
Shapiro's contract expires at the end of 2025, and Atkins at the end of 2026. Is Rogers planning to ditch both, and they won't let them go over the threshold in 2025 to affect the new front office as they try to clean up the mess Shapiro and Atkins made?

  3. At least the Guerrero news was good!! Sasaki is a pipe dream with the Yankees, Dodgers and Mets (etc.) out there. IF he signs (he does). I'm not holding my breath until I see SIGNED!!

  4. We're going to get Sasaki for sure.

Oh no, not Roki Sasaki. Ichiro Sasaki. He's a 24-year-old left fielder in the Icelandic Winter Baseball League who hit .293 and had 74 steals in 50 games in 2024. He's the league's #17 overall under-25 player, so major star potential according to the Shatkins valuations.

  5. Sorry, he's headed to LA – why wouldn't he when two other Japanese stars are there. He doesn't speak English so it would help,. And also LA has just a big of a Japanese pop., if not larger, than T.O.
