Clearly this is why they aren’t giving Tucker a little extra dough to help him like us, bold move Cotton
I don’t mind this signing, If he can get his sinker right and his groundball numbers back up can be a decent back-end starter. Could benefit from Wrigley trending pitcher friendly with 23 expected home runs last year at Wrigley vs 29 actually allowed
Wow a guy we had 4 years ago who’s as mid now as he was then
5 fuckin million
This sub is full of the whiniest people. Do people just lurk here waiting to bitch about everything?
Roki sweepstakes don’t look good and we we just signed another middling pitcher to the active roster. I’m not sure what happens to this teams starting pitching next year unless we get Jeds magical everyone overperforms projections. We have like 4 guys that are long/relief fringe starters on the 26 unless they dfa poteet.
When is the last time Chicago has really had something to be excited for in sports, aside from 2016? It’s amazing how the stars aligned in 2016. The entire WS core fizzled out almost immediately after winning it all, aside from Hendricks and Schwarber. If they didn’t win in 2016, we’d still be talking about the Curse. Haven’t had a real dynasty in the Chi since the 90s. Damn.
Jed Hoyer just signs guys like this, to trade at deadline, when CUBS are 10GB, ’cause of no power. They’ll probably trade Tucker for scraps too, since there’s no way Ricketts pays him $400 mil., arguing today in arb., over $2.5m. Sell the team, Ricketts.
Cascade, IA native! I went to the same high school as him!
Very stupid move IMO, we have guys in Iowa who can get the same results for less.
Spend more for a better pitcher, we need high impact SP and BP
Wonder if there is an injury we don’t know about yet
I wonder how many fans believe teams operate as if MLB is a 12 team fantasy league? Guys like Rea can have legit value on a real-life baseball team. Yeah, he’s a back end rotation or swingman kind of guy, but teams need players like that. Sometimes you just need a pitcher who can eat some innings and help keep the staff fresh. Rea had a 1.264 WHIP and 8 QS last year. I’m not running out to buy a Rea jersey, but I think this is a fine deal.

This sub really underestimates starting pitcher depth. Good signing.
Honestly Fuck Jed Hoyer and Fuck Tom Ricketts. At least Jed is likely gone after this season.
Not sure about this one. That’s a lot for a guy that you probably hope you don’t need to use as your fifth starter. He can eat innings but isn’t particularly good.
Pitching depth is a good thing. His numbers last year weren’t even too bad. I like the move and hope he can eat a lot of low-medium leverage innings for us

That’s the equivalent of twice the gap between Tucker and the Cubs’ arb numbers
What does jake gillenhall have to do with this?

Who needs Flaherty
What a terrible pitcher
More bargain bin shopping from poverty Tom and Jed. Just a joke of a franchise at this point
I guess Assad is in long relief now
Im surprised we aren’t in the oart of the off-season where we just sign minor league rehab projects yet.
This. This is the missing World Series piece! Should we start a go fund me for the rickets family?? They can’t afford anyone!!
Still waiting to see what we spend those Bellinger savings on…
[One year plus a club option for 2026.
