Would the Yanks just put DJ in the hot corner? I think it's important to give him a chance.

  1. I don’t think it’s important at all. He fell compeltely off the cliff last year.

Negative WAR, OPS+ of 51. He’s compeltely washed. No more power, can’t run

  2. A lot will depend on spring training. Jazz played fine at 3rd so you could keep him there and put DJ at 2nd or flip them. Honestly the Yanks have options for the infield, but it will depend on who is hitting.

  3. I would much rather see Cabrera/Peraza there, maybe let DJ come in the 8th inning to get some reps…If they decide not to DFA him.

At 1B I want Rice to get some reps in as well, although I’m not sure how they’ll handle that.

  4. I would not be happy with that. He did not hit at all last year and has slowed down a lot. Rather keep Jazz at 3rd.

  5. I could get behind giving him a shot. But he has a super short leash. Like a month. If he’s not hitting above .260 bench him.

  6. Important to give him a chance?

Absolutely not he’s doing a job and baseball is a results based business. The Yankees are perfectly within their rights to move on. With that said it’s a thin market and the Yankees have 15 million reasons to keep him on the roster.

I still want the Yankees to exhaust every avenue to upgrade from him, but my gut says he’s probably gonna wind up at least on the short side of a platoon with Oswaldo to start the year.

  7. Injuries can really affect how a player moves, even in ways that aren’t immediately obvious.

For LeMahieu, the core muscle injury he dealt with in 2021 and the toe injury in 2022 likely disrupted the natural flow of his swing.

  8. He will be given a chance . . . to hurt the Yankees badly, as he did last year.

A slight upgrade over Oswaldo (1.1 lifetime WAR per 162) could easily be worth two WAR if it includes a shovel.

  9. Boone is gonna give DJLM a shot at 2025 spring training. Why not? They owe the guy $30M. For that kind of money he should be willing to be the bullpen catcher if they need one.
