“The Sheik”. A forever Giant😊
Sorry for your loss. I remember always hoping that Altobelli would have Mike Sadek pinch hit for Marc Hill. Sadek was a solid catcher.
8 seasons as a solid backup catcher. Played his whole career in SF. That’s a Forever Giant, in my book. Sorry for your loss, OP. Really cool thing you’re doing for your kids, though.
Sorry for your loss. When I was very young, I met your dad. I used to live in the North Beach area and during the summers would hang out at North Beach Playground. I found out that Giants catcher Mike Sadek was going to be at North Beach library and made sure I was one of the first in line to meet him.
Here’s the thing: he was meeting kids at a public library; I’m sure he had better things to do. But what your dad did was give young baseball fans the chance to meet a big leaguer….this was decades ago, and I’ve never forgotten him or that opportunity.
He was kind and gracious; I knew then and there I wanted to be a major leaguer. Unfortunately, my skills said otherwise.
