Tristan Jarry Placed on Waivers

  1. I have absolutely stood up for him time and time, and he is not the only guilty party in playing bad, but this needed to happen.

Who knows what will happen, but at least the team officially recognizes this issue.

  2. I mean, why the hell not? Guy gets probably more shit than he should but definitely isn’t absolved of all shit that is given.

A shake up I didn’t expect them to actually do.

  3. if someone claims him what does that mean for his contract? The team that claims him assumes the entire contract? or the opposite?

and if no one claims him, what happens then? He’ll like go to Wilkes-Barre? Seems like that’s the most likely outcome?

  4. It’s definitely time for this move. Jarry is almost 30 and is showing no signs of improvement this season.

Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of players that need to step up and start producing, but we need a goalie who gives us a chance to win games 2-1 when the pucks aren’t going in the net.

We can’t carry on playing games where we need to score 4+ a night. That’s a death sentence in this league.

  5. He was objectively bad in almost any category. Always gave up first goal in a game. Goals late or early in a period. Could not hold a lead. Soft goals. Multiple goals in less than two minutes. Loses in big games.

  6. All of the clamoring for Jarry to be gone… This move wasn’t made if they haven’t spent time trying to trade him. Some things take time.

Hopefully this means that there is some sort of interest and this just forces his hand to relax any restrictions on his partial NTC.

I’d be willing to eat half of his deal with no reservations. The goaltending position will be cheap for the next couple of years with entry level deals/a cheap veteran back up like Ned.

  7. Right move all around. He is a lost cause, there is no upside to keeping him. Can get Murashov up to WBS, and someone from WBS comes to the big team.

  8. I’m not standing up for the guy. He broke my heart against the isles in the playoffs in ‘21.

But holy Christ this team is not made to make goaltenders look good at all. The defense is nonexistent and these dudes play on their heels in their zone every game. I don’t think anyone you put back there’s gonna look good.

Not saying he shouldn’t be waived, again, in case anyone wants to throw shit at me

  9. I still back Dubas but the contract is a huge black mark on his early tenure. Needs more Tomasino-like moves to redeem himself.

  10. I understand it has to happen, but it still kinda sucks. I hate it for the guy. I hope he’s OK.

  11. He was so good early in his career. Even made 2 ASG. Our last 2 starters fell HARD after a couple years. The other goalie of course is Murray.

  12. Hopefully this jumpstarts the rest of the team. Sometimes a shake up is all you need.

  13. I might get downvoted but this team isn’t going to be much better with another goaltender unless they are of Vezina caliber.

I’m not saying Jarry isn’t at fault in anyway. 100% he could be better but I feel he’s being made the scapegoat for this team’s bigger problems defensively.

NaturatStatTrick has the Penguins at 3rd most high danger chances against, and 2nd most high danger shots against. MoneyPuck has the Penguins at 3rd highest expected goals against.

Analytically our defense is doing horrible and making the game difficult for our goaltending. Again, Jarry and Ned could be better but everyone keeps saying we just need average goaltending.

Analytically, average goaltending would not help this team at all.

  14. He just never was the same after that groin injury in 2022-2023.

    It completely neutered his playstyle

    It’s a damn shame

  15. Finally ! Good luck Jarry hope it works out somewhere just way way over there somewhere

  16. I would bet Larsson is selected, he’s totally earned it.

If they’re willing to eat the whole thing at this point, Murashov probably deserves to come up to the AHL and play over Jarry too

  17. Larsson deserves a real shot. I say keep Blom in the minors for the entire year to continue to develop.
