In this season that continues to be nothing short of amazing for the Blue Jackets I really want to highlight this guy. After losing Guddy I was really starting to worry about our defense, and when we grabbed Fabbro off of waivers I had very little expectations.

But this guy has been incredible for us! He’s been playing next to Werenski most of the season and I think he’s actually a big part of why Werenski is having a Norris and arguably Hart caliber too. He plays a very responsible game, and has a lot of grit too. I especially liked his frustration after the Laine drama, considering he didn’t even start the year in Columbus. Dante Fabbro has been an embodiment of the 2024-25 Blue Jackets and I hope he keeps it up!

  1. I won’t say he’s THE reason for Z’s season because Z is obviously very skilled but his ability to allow Z to activate and hold down the neutral zone/zone entries on the backside is a HUGE reason for Z’s season.

  2. Really really hope we can extend him because you could see from Day 1 how well he and Zach play together. Zach actually having a reliable partner that he can now grow with and develop chemistry with is such an underrated thing in sports.

If you think Zach is having a good year, just wait till he gets to spend an offseason with Fabbro and we bring in and develop more scorers.

  3. Probably best all-time waiver pickup for a CBJ, right?

Arguably one of the better pickups league wide recently.

Ray Whitney to Florida in 1997 might be the GOAT of waiver wire pickups.

  4. The idea that he fell into our laps *for free* right when we needed him is still crazy.

Good things aren’t supposed to happen here.
