This is the funniest fucking thing I’ve ever seen. Ryan McLeod scores a hat trick goal because of a penalty committed on him on a breakaway with the goalie pulled, thus allowing Buffalo to score 1 goal in the 3rd period while recording 0 shots on net.

  1. Truly the most Buffalo way we couldve played the 3rd and finished it off. Glad we finally found out how to score on empty nets though lmao

  2. Boys played a lot better than on Saturday. Withstood the pressure. Gave up a couple but didn’t panic

  3. TIL …. Rule 57.4: Awarded Goal – If, when the opposing goalkeeper has been removed from the ice, a player in control of the puck (or who could have obtained possession and control of the puck) in the neutral or attacking zone is tripped or otherwise fouled with no opposition between him and the opposing goal, thus preventing a reasonable scoring opportunity, the Referee shall immediately stop play and award a goal to the attacking team.

  4. Maybe they add a rule where if you draw a penalty shot when the net is empty, the goal counts automatically. Otherwise your incentivized to absolutely fuck the other player up. McLeod could have gotten seriously hurt here.

  5. It’s also a rule that if you are awarded a penalty shot on a penalty shot it’s an automatic goal.

As a goalie I learned this by throwing my stick at the shooter during a penalty shot.

  6. Do NOT tell anyone in charge that we are capable of scoring without shooting, nevermind a shot on goal. Who knows what type of behavior will be encouraged. 😉
