    The Rockies are indeed a draft and develop team…unfortunately they haven’t been a team that is very good at drafting and developing players. Yes, some have quibbles with WAR but the numbers don’t lie. Even if the numbers were off, as you said today even if the Rox had gotten double their draft WAR, they still would be in 30th place. I’m sure there are numerous players drafted over this time span with greater WAR than the combined Rockies draft picks.
    We do need an organization wide plan to work towards. While I understand that will be difficult with hitter versus pitcher friendly leagues and levels, valuing the same things with every minor league Rockies’ affiliate will move the entire organization in the right direction. Higher strikeout rates for pitchers and lower chase rates for hitters are two things that can be focal points to build from.
    My specific lofty goal for the Rox this season is an increase of their 2024 10.7 WAR (Baseball Reference) and 8.5 WAR (Fangraphs). Cutting down on strikeouts (even by a modest 5%) would be a huge step in the right direction and will aid this…and their record. Will there be a step backwards if there’s a youth movement…most likely but I think we’d be okay with that if there’s simply overall progress.

Colorado Rockies fans are so demanding, they want batters who can hit singles, doubles, triples and home runs, they want pitchers who can strike out players, they want more wins than losses, they want a front office that is honest with the fans, they expect good ball games from the team. These fans are so very picky. Lol.
