[Puma] A.J. Minter’s addition to the Mets bullpen likely means they won’t further pursue Tanner Scott, I am hearing. Team officials recently met with Scott, who is considered the top reliever on the free agent market.

  1. I’m sure he wants to close which is hard for us to give him which stinks. But get minter up and moving around.

  2. I guess paying 2 relievers 20 mill AAV is insane. Just resign Iglesias, sign Flathery & trade for Guerrero Jr now and we good honestly

  3. I’m good with this, mainly because I didn’t think Minter would be available for 2/$22 million. Giving $20 million AAV to a reliever is always going to be a big gamble with how volatile relief arms are. Obviously it would be cool to have both, but I can understand why the org doesn’t want to sink a combined >$50 million into three relievers between Diaz, Minter, and Scott.

  4. That’s fine. We don’t need two massive RP contracts on the books at the same time.

The Mets did great last year getting innings from unexpected contributors. I’m willing to believe they can do it again this year.
