  1. The difference is Cowher built it back up and handed it over to Tomlin! But Tomlin has brought it back down for several reasons to their peak of just MEDIOCRITY.

  2. Need a new offensive minded Head Coach with good OC snd a great DC to get back to prominence. Tomlin won't win in playoffs in Chicago or Dallas either. Mediocrity there too I guarantee it.

  3. Reed is by far and way a better HC than Tomlin especially geared to what it takes to win offensively In today's NFL. REED IS WAY BETTER. TOMLIN WON'T SUCCEED ANYWHERE NEAR THAT.

  4. The lesson here is the same today as it was then. When you have an elite quarterback, you win, a lot of games. And when your elite quarterback, retires, you lose a lot of games.

  5. Getting the most out of your players and scheming whats best for them are two different things. Tomlin gets the most out of his player but his outdated scheme puts them in a position they cant succeed in late in the season. Tomlins a great leader but hes not a schematic genius, or if he is hasnt shown it recently. Steelers need a fresh persepctive.

  6. TJ Watt is ran out of gas this year and the defense fell off a cliff. I guess when you figure the offense isn't going to put up more than 14, what's the point.

  7. Tomlin is the problem. Even when he does have talent he mismanages it. Let George Pickens behavior go unchecked as he become a worse and worse problem. Hired Arthur smith to completely destroy Jaylen Warren’s potential. Pat friermuth should be a perpetually 80 catch 1000 yard guy, and he would be in any other scheme.

  8. There is no other coach of any color, for any other NFL franchise that wouod be able to keep his job with these results. The Steelers, being the team that helped craft “The Rooney Rule” will not fire him as what will that say about them as it relates to that rule?

So… steelers fans are stuck with him for at least another 2 yrs until his latest contract is up and maybe they can just part ways then so they dont have to 1) pay him not to be their coach and 2) not fire a guy who is the manifestation of The Rooney Rule.

  9. Tomlin needed to be let go five years ago. He is holding on for dear life. Tomlin is not particularly good at anything on a football team, bad offenses consistently and mediocre at best defenses every year. Tomlin shouldnt be a head coach.

  10. I'm on the side of tomlin being a terrific coach with an amazing record, but the last few years have been so repetitive that a change of scenery might be best for both. Like a Stafford/Goff trade but with head coach

  11. tomlin has definitely lost the fan base. Glad to hear you are coming to grips with the reality in Pittsburgh Rich Eisen….took you a long long while…..but you've recognized the obvious now.

  12. He makes it sound like this is a Pittsburgh problem. It’s not, Tomlin has total control over the roster, play calling, and coaches. He had his Mahomes with Ben. I agree it’s time for change, but the failure is on both sides

  13. You can find a good defensive coordinator to fix the defense, but you can't stick with the same trash quality offensive play that Tomlin has managed since his last franchise quarterback retired. All of those losses sit solely on him and that teams moron of an owner who meddles too much in the team's scouting processes.

On the other hand you can also argue that Tomlin would rather go for having a winning season with mediocre offense and loss after loss in the playoffs just to protect his own job and jeopardize the team's prospects of drafting a 1st to third round quarterback. Tomlin is directly hurting that team with his so-called "winning seasons" and playoff busts.

  14. The Rooney’s let Tomlin run the WHOLE show wit this organization. From roster construction to coaching hires. He’s the sole reason he’s 8-11 in the playoffs. The annual late collapses and why we haven’t won a playoff game in 8 yrs. Yet national media lie rich sHs should HE leave us like he’s being dealt a bad hand and forced to play wit it when we constantly get the same on bad results
