  1. Gotta move a core piece and shake the team up. This is past being a slump. Keefe refuses to change his lines and Fitz has watched the last 10 games and contently sat back. He needs be more aggressive

  2. I feel pretty much exactly the same as I did yesterday, but I’m starting to question Keefe’s lack of adjustments. There are some variables I could see affecting any big moves (Haula out, norovirus hitting guys this whole week), but even with that stuff, I think he’s gotta shake it up to get them out of this funk.

I’m also hoping they bring up Nemo and going 11-7. Although the D has been better, I wonder if throwing another player’s creativity and style into the mix might help overall? I really think coaching adjustments and new blood can help things for the moment while we wait/hope for an offensive move by Fitz.

Def not on board with blowing up the core, though I agree it’d be nice to get Jack back to his early season self where he simplified his game and was more responsible.

  3. We use our top line with Nico as a shutdown like for other teams and it’s killing us. Nico is still putting up goals because he’s Nico- but what would be great to have is a good defensive third we can send out against other teams first lines to keep them from scoring and then deploy the Nico timo noesen line to put some in the net for us. At least that’s my very amateur take.

  4. 3/12 wins since Christmas

1 of which was an OTW and 2/3 of them were a 1 point goal differential

Anyone in this thread who says that the fans shouldn’t be upset or saying “it’s just a slump” needs to see a proctologist so they can get their head out of their ass

Either trade someone, fire someone, or step up. Otherwise, this season is looking bleak

Edit: Oh, I’m being downvoted? I’m sorry. I forgot all about that 10 game winning streak we went through a few months ago. Silly me /s

  5. What’s with all the downvotes on all the reality checks? If y’all wanna cheerlead for losing hockey, go pull for the rags. This team got complacent and arrogant during the break and Carolina broke them. Now everyone else is doing the same. What the fuck is it gonna take for them to pull their fingers out of their asses?

  6. Jack Hughes gets pushed off the puck too easily.Feels like he hasn’t lifted a weight since entering the league. He also seems to blindly pass it to the center and hope for the best. That shit doesn’t work in the NHL and it leads to tons and tons of turnovers.

  7. People keep saying lack of adjustments, but I’d love for us to chat about what adjustments we think the team reasonably should be making with the roster. Our bottom six doesn’t deserve to be in the top six either, so what adjustments does Keefe make to fix the fact that our players just ain’t hitting the net?

  8. Jack “people pay to watch ME play” Hughes had some pretty costly turnovers today.

  9. I really need to stop allowing my emotional state to be affected in any way by a team that I absolutely no ability to control. It’s very frustrating haha. Not that I could do any better of course, but sucks tying myself to the performance of this team

  10. Things are really bad at the moment. Haven’t gotten many points since Christmas and other teams are catching up. Keep going and we won’t be in the playoffs, something needs to change

  11. This club has deep structural issues that will continue until somebody with an IQ above room temp can fix them by any means necessary.

Or I have to move back to Jersey after being away for 12 years.

  12. Why did we refuse to get the puck to the top of the slot, straight in front of the net, and shoot. These tight angle outside shots ain’t shit

  13. Was Travis Green on to something with his “there are good players, and then there are players you win with” comment?

  14. Missed the game today because I was hiking in the Catskills. I watched the SportsNet game highlights just now. Looks like we dominated the first period and had some great chances but didn’t score. Happening a lot lately. 8 minutes of the 10 minute highlight reel were the Devils owning the first period. They showed the two goals in the second and not much else. We gave up ANOTHER first guy’s ever NHL goal??? AGAIN? And then we give up a guy’s SECOND goal of the year on a point shot. FFS. At one point we had 20 shots and didn’t have a goal. Most teams would have two goals on 20 shots.

Anyway, for those that watched was it at least better than yesterday’s effort?

  15. I know Timo is not the problem but where the hell has he been? Paid the most does the least…he’s been invisible.

  16. We learned the system, mastered it, but now its hurting our offense. Markstrom is good enough to cover up for a more rush oriented offense, and so is our defense. This 3-1 or 2-1 loss bullshit is not gonna get us anywhere in the playoffs if we can’t make it

  17. Ya assuming we hold into a non wildcard team playoff spot Carolina is gonna bounce us in the 1st. I guess this year is just about learning to see who works and who doesn’t in our new system.

  18. I’d like to see the Devils play a bit more physical. Cotter takes the body well and finishes checks, but not seeing that as much from most of the other players.

  19. Heard a fire keefe chant at tonights game and a lot of booing. Certain parts of this fanbase are embarrassing

  20. Call me a DooMeR or this or that, but the fact is, this team continues to be in the exact same spot as it’s been the past few years. Good enough to make the playoffs, but never close to winning the Cup.

I’d still take this 10/10 times over being shit, but man its just as frustrating…

  21. 2-9 in the past 11. Scored 4+ goals twice in that span. That’s simply not good enough man

  22. This 2024-25 Devils team is going nowhere fast. The Columbus Blue Jackets are only 7 points behind them with 3 games in hand. Ottawa is 6 points behind with 3 games in hand. Montreal is only 10 points back with 4 games in hand. That’s fucking pathetic.

The best player on the Blue Jackets was literally run over by an SUV and died in the offseason and if his former team wins their three games in hand they will only be ONE point behind the Devils.

I have more faith in the ghost of Johnny Gaudreau than I do in this iteration of the Devils.

NJD 2024-25: Soft. Undisciplined. Reckless and irresponsible with the puck. Terrible at game-management.

I’ve lost count of the number of games this season in which they were tied with less than 10 minutes to go and failed to get even a single point.

I’ve also lost count of the number of games they’ve lost to flat-out awful teams that shouldn’t even be in the same tier of competitiveness as the Devils.
