Detroit Tigers, Alex Bregman negotiations at standstill as spring training nears

Could live with him or without him at this point just sign somewhere bregman
I’m not mad at the Tigers. Signing a declining player to a huge long term contract makes no sense.
I’m just exhausted by the whole saga. Scott, just let me know what the final roster is going to be so I can be excited about the start of the season.
At this stage Bregman is basically at a standstill with every team. Will be interesting if that “mutual interest” holds when it comes time to finally settling.
I remain patient but Gleybar isn’t enough to solve the infield. We all see that, right?
He was amazing at third base last year but I feel like his offense is slowly declining. Thought the same about Chapman too and he was a stud last year
I’m out on him at this point. He’s gonna want more years and money than Santander just got, and he’s not likely to be worth it hitting at Comerica.
I understand people are low on him; but he’s likely the best player still on the market, and plays a key position we have a hole at. Prior to moving Kieth I would have preferred getting Alonso, but now Bergman makes the most sense imo.
Maybe they’ll just stick Tork at 3rd this year
Good. Don’t want him if he wants more than $80M/4 years. He’ll already be 31 and has been declining each season. Probably wouldn’t have a single 20+ home run season playing in Comerica.
Let’s train up Jung and hope he can be 75-80% of Bregman
I’m glad Harris is standing firm. Bregman simply isn’t worth what he’s asking, and eventually he’ll realize that no team will cave.
Anyone know what he is asking for?
He’s not coming here…
This season and probably next. great move. Year 3-6 possible albatross
Why not just front load his contract?
Not worth it. On the decline. Save the money and minor league depth for July trade deadline.
Boston will give Boras what he wants. It’s over
It’s so funny to me that people here act like he wouldn’t walk in and be a top 3 bat in this lineup. If the goals to keep Skubal here and compete these two years then it ain’t going to be with Jace fuckin Jung at 3b, same guy they didn’t trust to play a game at 3b in playoffs for them a few months ago. They can’t sell me on liking what they have then they’ve spent all these weeks flirting with Bregman, go get your guy. 5 years 6 years who gives a fuck, it’s a billionaires money I promise you you won’t have to pay for this all the bookkeepers who seem to be on here worrying about $. Baez’s contract isn’t why we haven’t spent money, it was a bad signing but for that ONE bad contract we have 20 other guys making less than they should. this is the way of business and pro sports, if you’re serious about winning and wanting to win you eventually have to overpay someone in FA, simple as that
Pizza Boy Christopher Ilitch needs to sell the team, He will never make the team better with his cheapness.
As it gets closer to the season maybe he’d be more willing to take a shorter deal? I’m not mad we decided against signing a big deal that would look bad in a few years. But i am disappointed at the lack of offensive additions to this team. It was clear all season we needed bats and now the offseason is almost gone and the only offensive additions was…Gleyber Torres.
