Call me a homer, but I absolutely would take a flier on him at some point as a project in conjunction with acquiring someone else, especially with 9+ picks in the arsenal (yes, I know they probably will trade some). Good pocket presence, can escape some pressure, a little mobility, accurate enough, loads of experience including big games against elite competition, seems to keep his cool when the pressure is on, and is generally a winner. Arm is what it is and his decision making could use some work, but he has some potential in the right circumstance with the right coach. A little like another Big Ten QB drafted in the 4th round a dozen years ago.
EDIT: The ability to escape pressure and extend plays should never be overlooked.
He stands as good of a shot as any of the 3rd-8th ranked QBs to be good, but I don’t know if I would be comfortable starting him his rookie year. There is still some refinement there that needs to happen and taking him likely signals that we would need a 1 year bridge veteran.
He seems like a guy who takes coaching very well, which Im sure somebody like Stefanski would appreciate right about now.
He’s most likely 2nd round pick now but I would love him.

He really grew on me in the playoff run, and the fact we wouldn’t have to use #2 is a huge perk.

Honestly, if we were able to get Howard in the third or fourth and got Cousins in the offseason and Howard sat behind Cousins for 1-2 years I wouldn’t be totally against it. Get Carter in the first and someone like Ersery (or best LT available) in the 2nd.
I think people are way underestimating where these QBs are going to go. Part of me even wonders if Howard makes it to the second.
Like, as bad as this QB class is, this years FA class for QBs is somehow even worse, and there are way too many QB needy teams. Some of these QBs are going to go way higher than they should.
