  1. Not that we don’t need another RH bat of some sort, but the number of people who are letting anger about the FO not spending and wanting them to do something just to show some commitment overshadow their excitement for these potential SUPERSTARS is crazy to me. Can’t wait to see that swing at Fenway (even more so at that short porch in NY).

Prospects don’t always pan out (Moncada / Benintendi), and I’d prefer not putting them in positions where we’re depending on them right out of the gate if possible, but BOS potentially has stronger Christian Yelich and young Hanley Ramirez (again) on the cusp of the bigs. That’s crazy boom potential for which Craig is correct to say hey let’s make sure whoever we acquire doesn’t block either guy’s runway. Even if not on the team by spring both will be contributors this year regardless of who is added if team is to reach its potential.

  2. Baseball America has Anthony/Campbell ranked #2 and #4. It’s really 1 and 3 if you take out Roki. Either way its incredible to have multiple guys in the top 5, and neither one of them was a first round pick!

Scouting has gotten so good nowadays that they’re almost always right about the guys ranked in the top 5-10. Chances are high either Anthony/Campbell has an impact from day 1, and could easily get that from both.

Oh and then there’s Mayer who’s sitting all the way down there at #15. If it wasn’t for injuries he’s most likely top 10 as well, and even at 15, that means be would be the #1 prospect in over half of the other MLB farm systems.

And this is after trading two top 60 guys to get one of the best young SP in the game. Future is so bright.
