Edmonton Oilers Trade Deadline Updates | Evander Kane | Evan Bouchard | Playoff Roster

The Edmonton Oilers have some complicating factors when it comes to the Trade Deadline. I take a look at all the directions the Oilers could choose to go, and the bigger picture surrounding it.

  1. Get rid of Bouchard. He will get more than he's worth. I wish we would have traded him in the summer like I wanted after racking up points in the playoffs and kept our RFAs but that's past now.

  2. Tyson, I’m happy with what this team is. I would like more consistency from the goaltending but who wouldn’t. Never a dull moment I suppose and we still battle back and earned out spot in the division. I like our resiliency. Period.

  3. A heavy team? 13th in the league and 18th in height….." if I remember correctly McDavid and Drais were so beat up in the final round last year cause no one stood up and protected the. And they are older and smaller this year.

  4. It’s not about getting bigger to outhit the opposition. We need the size to wear down their D on a cycle and forecheck. We need size on the backend to break the cycle. Also, all those asking for Bouche to get traded, there’s not many D that can give you what he does on the offensive side of the game, he’s an elite player on that side of the puck. There aren’t any Chris Prongers out there that can do it all.

  5. Gona pay Bouchard 8-10 mill that some Gm will pay him if Oilers don't resign him? Analytics say he's great (or so I'm told), but anyone with eyes can see a guy who makes a lot of mistakes that prove costly, and will be more so in the final 4. They can probably afford to pay him, but is that a good thing to do? I'd rather have another Ekholm/Larson type player and some prospects/pics, so they can add some big mean hitters. 14.5 Dria, 16? MCd, 9.24 Nurse and 10 mill Bouchard is 50 mill in just 4 players.

  6. Honestly, if Klingberg shines, I would trader Bouchard. His upside isn't consistently enough to outshine his mental lapses, lackadaisical effort, and lack of ability to get his shot through this year. And Klingberg is not going to be in the same range as Bouchard. Trade him for some picks or a really solid defenceman.

  7. Haven’t listened to one of your shows for over a year. Gotta say, your pace and tone have improved a ton and I just hit the subscribe button.

Looking forward to hearing more from ya

  8. I can see Skinner being traded, Klingberg should be a plus. With the way Bouchard has been playing, I think his 10 mil has gone down to the 5-7mil range. We are done with Ryan so no worries there. Good update Tyson! Best Oilers channel by far, always give a like.

  9. Just my 2 bits. Bouchard may be struggling defensively so far this season, but he’s still 3rd in points and +/- on this team. Yes, third. There would be GM’s around the league who would want to sign him because, offensively, he is one of the top D-men in the league. Don’t forget that he’s also quite young yet, and he will improve. He can be frustrating to watch at times, but so are a lot of our forwards.
Out of the Oilers 7 top scorers, 3 of them are D-men. That leaves a lot of room for improvement in our forwards corps.
