3. At 8.8M Michael King is a bargain for 2025. I agree with you Ben, there is still talent on this Padres team, but they can't compete without quality starting pitching. I don't see how they trade Cease, much less King and IMPROVE the team.

21. Usually when you take a guy to arbitration the chances of resigning him goes way down. I wouldn’t be surprised if king told them he’s not interested in signing a long term deal here so they probably realize they better trade him while his value is at its highest

28. AJ preller always makes everybody available because he listens on anything. But to trade king and keep Cease makes absolutely no sense. One will be on his way out and one is on his way up. If you're going to trade King then why stop there, TRADE THEM ALL. At this point you could trade both of them and put together a brand new team for now and the future. To put together a team that is just going to continually be competitive but not good enough to win at all is ridiculous. The only thing you could think of is depending on the offers you get for each one, which one fits better for the Padres. You don't know what you can get for either unless you Make them both available. Still, trading King just doesn't make any sense right now. But like I said that's AJ, Make everyone available and see what you come up with. THEN MAKE A DECISION.

30. For me it's hard to believe Peter didn't make it crystal clear how he wanted things to work upon his demise. It could be when he said he envisioned his children taking over the team eventually that his brothers would run it until then. Love to see the will laid out where everyone could see it.
