Kahn isn’t a real GM. They make decisions by committee and the committee members aren’t equal.
Yeah.. Watching Howie Roseman draft and build the Eagles makes me extremely jealous.. Glad we got Andy tho.
We need a jersey like the Browns have for qbs…but ours is all the WRs we were “supposed” to get, starting with aiyuk
Idk DK Omar seems pretty far down the list of culprits. Dude tried to get us Aiyuk and Adams and he actually went out and got us Mike Williams, the coaches just didnt play him. Omar shares some blame but its a very small part compared to the coaching staff.
Stephan Tuitt was amazing… when he was healthy… we got one great full year from him…Hargrave was called upon a lot when Tuitt would inevitably go down
GM isn't the problem Khan is doing the best he can. He can't make Tomlin use the players he gets. Our #2 receiver road the bench most of the rest of the year after getting him. (Williams)
Let’s look at it like this – If a person buys you a Ferrari, and you go out and you get beat by Ford Probes in a race. Maybe the car isn’t the problem, maybe it’s the driver.
Tomlin controls the team. His fault.
Why couldn’t we resign hargrave?
While you are at it, you might as well ask what the heck went-on with Mike Tomlin putting Roman Wilson permanently in Tomlins' Dog House? The Steelers upper echelon went from riding high with the fans, to arguably a big question mark. And that's being kind.
Man.. That dynamic between GM, head coach and OC is concerning.. This could be another rough ride next season.. But, at this point we should all be use to it..
Not sure how you forget that Omar worked to address this with Roman Wilson as well. He will be a great addition next year
The thing that concerns me moving forward is the lack of ability to develop young talent. When was the last time we got a so called “raw prospect” and they were developed into a good player here? Guys like TJ and so on seem to have been fine but you look at guys really coming into their own at other teams then you see guys like Warren and Calvin. Where’s the development?
I’m not sure I can blame Khan on the WR room. He’s got money and pick limitations imposed by Rooney to work with. In spite of all that I feel like overall he’s improved the roster markedly over what Colbert did over his last few seasons.
D.K. it's Thursday 😀. Thanks for the show
We got 99 problems and khan ain’t one of them.
Good morning DK I’m a huge fan of the show. Feel free to get some rest at any given time football is going to be here by Man. today is Thursday lol and I’m pretty sure you meant to say Deshaun Elliott.
In terms of J1Q, no disrespect, but Benton is not a high pick waste. He has a huge upside. Didn’t he have an interception this year? That’s not common for a defensive of lineman bro.
In terms of Mike Williams usage. There’s two things I’d like to cite. There were three midseason wide receiver trades. Hopkins (who should be thanking the Titans for send him to KC, because he’s benefiting from them, they aren’t benefiting because of him) didn’t have many splash plays. Amari Cooper didn’t have much production w the Bills. And neither did Mike Williams with the Steelers. The second thing I wanna say is players particularly why receivers have to learn the playbook if they run the wrong route or they don’t have the chemistry established with the quarterback you risk a pick six. that’s probably why Roman Wilson didn’t see the field. Ask for Omar Khan. I’m gonna hold my opinion of him for the regular season. I have to see what he does with our roster. Rooney said we will probably have one to two big free agents so I’m gonna wait and see what they can get.
Everyone wants to place "blame." Wrong. The 2024 Steelers were supposed to be bottom dwellers. Honestly, they over achieved with a YOUNG oline and average QB play. It is what it is. The league did them no favors with the schedule and hardknocks. Add in a defense that sinks or swims with splash. You have 10-7 a season or worse. Are they treading water yes. Winning in the NFL is hard.
In my opinion, Omar has been an ‘A’, almost ‘A+’ GM.
Great acquisitions, great trades, probably a very good draft. At the end of the day though, DK, one man has the final say. Mike Tomlin. So, I don’t know. I hope we can pull off brining in T. Higgins.
Its obv Artie Rooney doofus has given tomlin CEO authority above everyone else but himself (barely). So just like the defense (and boring super conservative offense) is all tomlin and Khan is prob still just the numbers and draft guy (obv tomlin has a big say there too). So well done Rooney (in name only) you have sunken the steelers to this level and no longer able to even win 1 playoff game in 8 years and doubt we will under tomlin again. I mean he's only won playoff games in 4 of his 18 yrs!
Totally disagree what was Omar supposed to do overpay for 2 players Ayuik or Adams that obviously didn’t want to come here? If I have one bad thing to say about Omar it would be we really should have got Jerry Juedy and not Mike Williams for that 5th round pick Juedy played quite well for Cleveland
Khan is a strength. Trades take two teams and willing players.
Tomlin is the HC , OC , DC , GM and part owner. All decision go through Tomlin , what he say goes. Why is it so hard for everyone to understand this?
GP needs to go, and we need to keep Mike Williams. We need to sign Tee Higgins and still try and sign a WR 2. Having said all that, I don't think the outcome will be any different unless Tomlin let's Arthur Smith cook! This whole, we're going to regain the Steeler identity of running the ball whether it works or not is garbage. we weren't like that when Ben was throwing for 500+ yards.
DK just be talking. Be a general manager
Trying to understand how it’s explicitly on Khan that he wasn’t able to bring in another receiver. You put forth your argument like it was due to a lack of trying, but we saw him get extremely close on several deals that ended up not going through for various reasons.
I’m not exactly sure who you would have wanted him to try and force a trade with to bring in another receiver.
Especially if you consider the DJ trade a good one, then I’m not sure how much criticism you can give to Khan here.
Patrick Queen is close to a bust when considering his salary. Maybe with better D lineman keeping him clean will change things I will give him another year but count me underwhelmed. with PQ
Unpopular Opinion. Khan was genius NOT to make a big trade for a WR. How did Brandon Aiyuk turn out when the 49ers re-signed him? How is Devante Adams massive cap hits the next two years going to work out with the Jets?
The only move that would have made sense was the one for Christian Kirk or perhaps Cooper Kupp. But by bad luck Kirk had a season ending injury before the deal got done. Then the Rams reneged on Kupp. So Khan salvaged the situation by bringing in Mike Williams, yet the coaches made no effort to get him on the field. I blame the coaches more than I blame Khan.
Yeah Omar gets some blame .but Tomlin's wreck less practices can't keep guys from getting injured.maybe roman Wilson would have played this year.so much more on Tomlin than Omar.
Seems like Rooney and the coaching staff want to be mediocre .
DK what happened last year has been going on for some time. Last years draft had great receiver talent in the first round. They passed on Brian Thomas who is a star. 10TD’s 87 receptions 1200 yards. Picked a bad knee smaller tackle who got hurt twice in a short time. The team has passed on positions when they were deep in the draft over and over to only have that need bite them in that year and then going into the next draft with lesser talent at the position like this year the wide receiver position is not great. Then they reach. Khan is a bean counter and new to what he is doing he follows Tomlin’s wants. Rooney has turned the team over to Tomlin he run things top to bottom and no one is going challenge him. This is why Willians did not play. 😢 Khan was not going to ask Tomlin to play him. Austin gets the grief for being a bad DC but we know its Tomlin’s calls on defense. Smith is handcuffed by Tomlin and the run run pass plan. Smith did not want Wilson he was happy with Fields. The team is done until Tomlin retires.
