Maybe this is a sign of how entirely online my life is, but I've been struck by the vast difference in how outsiders view our offseason moves compared to the folks here and online (X/Bsky/etcetera)

Outside view:

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-offseason-grades-so-far-mets-dodgers-red-sox-get-a-braves-cardinals-more-fail-for-inaction/ (Gives us an A for the off season)

(not linked due to X ban) MLB network analyst says we had 2nd best off season, non-Dodgers category)

meanwhile, if you look at this forum and online, you'd think that John Henry and crew shot every player who had a pulse while twirling a mustache and holding a giant moneybag and taking lollipops from crying babies.

Just really jarring contrasts.

  1. As a FSG critic, I’m happy with what they did this offseason. Went and got Crochet, I hope he’s ace material for years to come.

Sucks that the dodgers manhandled this offseason, and it’s not right IMO.

But I think the Sox did a very good job considering the crazy market and the big names that were floating around.

    Roman Anthony, let’s go buddy.

  2. Yea there is a disconnect. We are in good shape for 2025. There is a lot of hate online, not just in this sub, but everywhere. Internet is not real life tho. Don’t buy into the hate

  3. At the Mets winter fest thing, they literally were booing because Alonso wasn’t signed. I think that’s when I realized if a team that just dropped an unprecedented amount of money during an offseason is getting shit on by the fans, that every non dodgers fan is basically just pessimistic about everything.

I think the Sox off-season was ok, I don’t mind not signing Bregman. We need to extend Crochet eventually and I wish they got one more bullpen arm, but otherwise I, fine riding the young position players and I think our starters are in a much better/deper position than last year.
