[Lin] Manny Machado said he doesn’t think the Padres’ ownership situation affected the team’s chances of signing Roki Sasaki. “I think he had his mind set already on where he was going,” Machado said. “That’s just my opinion.”

  1. There was a deal, an illegal deal. The whole spectacle was to cover it up, sheel just gave them another cover story to use as to why he was going where everyone knew he had already planned to go

  2. He’s speaking from the heart and I think most people would agree with him. He’s ready to take him deep, hope the whole team has that attitude.

  3. Then why dance with us if those were his intentions? To inflate his value? It hits below the waist no matter what.

  4. After hearing Roki was recommended for Tommy John over four years ago and he passed, I’m happy with the outcome. He’s a perfect fit for the Dodgers IL squad

  5. He def did. There was no chance he was coming to the better city when LA has more money. The dude knew his financial future was set

  6. He hosted him for dinner. Manny’s opinion should be weighted more than any other.

  7. Idk, I think folks need to get over it. He vetted a lot of teams. It was a smart thing to do. I also think we had a shot at some point given the time / years our FO put into it. It just didn’t work out.

As for saying this entire thing was a conspiracy…MLB did investigate. They found nothing. Also keep in mind AJ was accused the exact same thing with Salas when we signed an American with international pool $$. Then there is the DR where this kinda thing is common practice.

Roki is a dodger, oh well. We see them 12 times or something in regular season. The other 150 games is what we need to be focused on.
