Pewter Pulse: Bucs Closing In On New OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR

The Bucs have interviewed six candidates in their search for a new offensive coordinator to replace Liam Coen. That may be enough, says Scott Reynolds, who believes the Buccaneers may be down to just a couple of worthy candidates in a NEW Pewter Pulse video.

  1. This reminds me of Licht’s 🤔? decision..Mike Evans or Johnny Manzel …more Cohen or Mike, CG , Baker & the best rookie RB..we know the answer to that 😂

  2. Great insight Scott! I think Caley or Grizzard would be excellent choices! I do like the idea of promoting from within and building on an existing relationship with Baker.

  3. I agree with what you said. Although, they could be better especially if they keep the continuity like you said with the offense and go with somebody that has experience with a team and I think they should hire from within. The reason why I think it could be better. Of course this also depends upon keeping healthy . If Godwin can be signed back to the team . And stay healthy, we could be much better. Sorry if this sounds repetitive. Kept having to edit what I was saying.

  4. Sporting that Christopher Walken look today, Scott!

Thanks for the update. Promoting Grizzard and retaining as much of the offensive staff as possible seems like a solid path forward. Coen did a great job, but he didn’t do it alone. We have his playbook and #1 in 3rd down conversions is a great place to build from.

  5. I do find it interesting although Chip Kelly of Ohio State pubically stated he was interested, nothing from Tampa. It seems it is coming from Shawn McVay's tree again. The nice thing about McVay's scheme it allows the QB to make a choice when he comes to the line on two or three options he can call. Baker Mayfield works well with that format, as he seems to have a good analysis of the field like Tom Brady did when he was playing. So odds are it will be any of the options as stated here. While others have stated it is from McVay, this is the first time I have heard someone clearly state who they are actually interviewing. Thank you for presenting this and ironically, the defense is going to be the focus this offseason after the OC is selected.

  6. Grizzard is the only candidate that was interviewed in person. The front office allegedly loves the guy, by most accounts. Now I'm hearing the rumor that the new OC may be announced as early as tomorrow. That would mean it's definitely Grizzard.
