This can’t be happening…

Kyle Connor scored twice, and the Winnipeg Jets extended their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday.

Mark Scheifele also scored, and Gabriel Vilardi had two assists for the Jets (35-14-3), who are 8-2-1 in their past 11 games. Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves.

“We’ve just played simple, we haven’t tried to overcomplicate the game,” Scheifele said. “We get pucks deep, we’re a tough team when we play in the O-zone. We hold onto pucks, we make the other team defend, and tonight was a prime example of that.”

Juraj Slafkovsky scored, and Sam Montembeault made 20 saves for the Canadiens (24-21-5), who have lost three straight (0-2-1) for the first time since going 0-5-1 from Oct. 29 – Nov. 9.

“We were very engaged,” Montreal coach Martin St. Louis said. “We just didn’t win.”

Slafkovsky gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead at 11:03 of the first period. He snapped a one-timer past Hellebuyck’s glove from the left face-off circle on Nick Suzuki’s pass from behind the net.

Connor tied it 1-1 at 15:36 when he got to a rebound of Dylan DeMelo’s initial shot from the left point and scored on a wrist shot past Montembeault stick side.

“I kind of just roam around the slot there and try to catch them when they’re shooting the puck going towards the net and lose coverage a bit,” Connor said. “And I was able to do that and find a loose puck and able to put it upstairs.”

  1. REAL bummer of a game. 😞🏒 I didn't even have many expectations, but DAMN, even worse than expected. 🤦‍♂ I'm on one – hope you all are doing alright. 🙏 We'll be back again soon, and I'll bring it back on a positive note. ✌ I just can't believe this team is getting banged up this bad at maybe the most pivotal time of the season. 🤕 Guhle missing any time is EXTREMELY bad. 🚨 Heineman needs to come back ASAP, and they need to think about bringing someone in to replace Guhle. Struble? 🤔 Mailloux? 👀 If HuGo has any tricks up their sleeves, now is the time to pull them off. 🎩✨

We're going to roll over to 9,000 subscribers soon! 🚀🔥 That’s cool, right?

  2. That damn injury bug strikes again. Monty kept them in the game but Hellebuyck kept them out. Overall the Habs were ok but we need more than ok to beat the top contenders.Happy Birthday Whiskey!!! Have a great day and its apple pie for me with cheddar cheese.

  3. Happy birthday. I don't get the fans posting catastrophic comments everywhere. Sure, MTL improved their play tremendously and are actually in the fight for wild card. But expecting from them a win against the top team in the league? Should've been clear it will be a challenging match.

  4. Happy birthday!! 🥳🥳 I have so many mixed feelings from this game lol, they played well, then they didn't then they did, it was crazy… I guess MSL did make some mistakes in this one with wrong matchups and some individual mistakes here and there may have cost us the game, like wasted scoring chances and Hellebuyck is just on an insane heater… 😵‍💫

  5. Happy Birthday… I liked the video since I heard it helps with search results or 'something' ! 😊
Never seen Carrier that mad before. It was a weird penalty call. He was lucky he did not get more after chasing the ref around

  6. Oh no we suck again 🙁 jk, I guess we got goalied but Montembault wasn't even bad, it's just that Hellebuyck is a monster. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Yup, unnecessary mistakes, that hurt. Especially after otherwise rather good 1st and 3d periods, imho. Beautiful goal from the 1st line. 🙂 Armia and Laine looking like their minds and fire are elsewhere..? Hmm. Next one also against formidable opposition…

  8. Samuel Montembault might need to visit Laval Rockets so he can get some rest and refresh his fine-tuning skills.

Montreal Canadiens should rotate three goaltenders until Jacob Fowler is ready. Habs need to be able to easily win the defensive type of game with tight scoring and super goalies.

Carey Price can come back as a goalie or assistant coach for the defence. Maybe he will finally put his name on the Stanley Cup

  9. Barron family revenge…his brother is not 6-2, 200lbs but 6-3 225lbs and lays out Dach. Habs need to protect them selves around the boards for hits…what happened to contact training? FYI J. Barron is now on the first pairing with Josi in Nashville…been given a real chance. Habs are soft…too small on D…miss Heineman-their best 200 ft winger.

  10. Happy birthday, Whiskeylung! I don't know 😕 what to say about the Habs that hasn't already been said in the comments. So far they are drifting away from playoff standing. Fingers crossed 🤞 they can find a way to kick things back in gear and get back in the mix.

  11. Happy Birthday dude, if you like lemon pie, you have to try Key Lime pie, made from very small limes found in the Florida Keys, don't know where you could find it, but it's superb. 😊😊😊

  12. Close, but not close enough, there's still 31 games left. It will be a fight to the end in the Atlantic as they currently hold 4 of the 8 playoffs spots with Detroit and Boston right at the doorstep. But, there's only a handful of points separating the teams. So anything can change. As long as the Habs don't go 0-10-0 in the next 10. But you will get 2 easy games against the Ducks and the Sharks.
