  1. I would love for this to happen. Nico could be out a month or more at the start, so Shaw could play 2B. I think the smartest way to handle it is, sign Bregs, Shaw to 2B day one. Keep all 3 for the first half of the season. And if Shaw is doing fine, you can shop Nico at the deadline (they only have him this year and next) and can potentially recoup a Cam Smith level prospect that you lost getting Tucker for one year.

  2. I’d like to think that Shaw can get the job done wherever they plug him in, third or second, but I don’t blame them for seeking insurance, if they can get it. Ultimately I don’t think Bregman comes here and expect Shaw to open at third, but we’ll see.

  3. Brgman is being offered 4 years 105 -110M from the Cubs. With a 28M first year. If Jed does this move its because he thinks the deadline will only require 1 addition to the rotation & bullpen will be fine.. Only need about 7 million at the deadline to get a VERY Solid SP. (At deadline teams take on less than half of a players salary)

  4. I don’t think they need to trade Nico this year. I think Shaw will get 300+ ABs playing multiple positions. Unlike Morel, Shaw is not a defensive liability.

  5. Sign Bregman and start the season with Shaw at 2B!! If he’s struggling when Nico is ready to play, send him to Iowa!!! But I think he’ll be fine and they eventually trade Nico!!

  6. I love this deal. I think Bregman would slot in perfectly. I LOVE Shaw, but I think we’re trying to rush him. I think him platooning behind Nico for the first half of the season would be perfect. And if Shaw is raking in the first half, ship off Nico for needed pieces. Also, I want PCA to bat leadoff with his speed.

  7. For starters, Bregman is a 2B. He has a bum arm, doesn't have the arm range from the past. Even Houston was planning to play him at 2B the lion's share of time. If Bregman comes, Hoerner is gone for that reason alone. Plus, there were early rumors about him being moved to Seattle for pitching & we know Chicago has been trolling for a top of rotation starter all off-season. They are going to play Shaw so Hoerner would be flipped if Bregman comes.

  8. The latest news on Cease means the return is much smaller. Suarez is to be included in the deal, so now with Brasier i doubt cubs are going there. If they did they would trade Assad and Long or Wiggins, not their top 7

  9. Hopefully that 6 yr kid talking shit to Mr ricketts put his ass in perspective on how cheap he actually is. Maybe he will pull the trigger and go over that first tax threshold. City of Chicago DESERVES good teams! I want another pitcher too with addition the Bregman! (Dylan Cease).

  10. good show. I think if they sign Bregman, they need to keep Nico and have Shaw on the team as depth. It's highly possible that Bregman and Tucker are in the Bronx next year and if you get rid of Nico then in the following season you have Shaw at 2nd (provided he even has success) and Shaw is what? A prospect. That's all he is. Sam, he's a prospect. Shaw is the back up infielder. This time next year is when you decide what Shaw and Nico are to the future of the team. You don't want to find out next year that you have no Bregman and no Nico. That's stupid. And once again Sam, Cody did not have a great last year, why? He had broken ribs, broken finger, missed 30 games and the park played the 29th hardest to go deep in. Why? Windy. You never have context. You just say Cody sucked last year. You ever swing a bat with healed broken ribs and the pitch is 100 mph.

  11. It's not that challenging because you just did it…don't give jed a free pass…that said there's certain prospects I'm not interested in trading
