ESPN’s Matt Miller dropped a two round 2025 NFL Mock Draft. Here are the picks for the Cowboys:
Round 1, Pick #12: Matthew Golden (WR, Texas)
Round 2, Pick #44: Elijah Arroyo (TE, Miami FL)

Zack Martin spoke at the Super Bowl about his future, which remains uncertain
“First off, I want to try to get healthy. Here in the next month, six weeks, me and my wife have been talking about it,” Martin said of his decision timeline. “Right now, I’m focused on getting healthy and seeing how I feel with this ankle kind of repaired and whether or not I’m going to go out and try to go again … Just mentally if I’m ready to, I know what it takes to be an elite player in this league and what all goes into it,” Martin said of what else goes into his choice. “I think I just got to get my head mentally around if I want to commit to that for another year or not … I think I’ve done a nice job in my career to really focus on what I was doing at that time throughout my career, and that’s what I’m trying to do now. Still trying to figure out what the next chapter in my life looks like, whether that be playing football here in Dallas, playing football somewhere else, retiring, whatever that may be, that’s what I’m trying to figure out.”

Zack Martin’s contract voids on March 13th and is designed to be spread out over two years, to limit the salary cap hit. The current set up needs either a retirement or a Post June 1st release.

NFL Draft expert Matt Miller laid out his arguments for the picks as such:
Matthew Golden: “Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is the popular pick here in early mock drafts, and he could be the splash that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones loves to make. But passing on a receiver at No. 12 would be risky given the deep class of running backs. (For context, I don’t have a single receiver ranked between Nos. 26 and 58 on my board, but I do have five RBs.) Golden is a surging prospect. He started the season as Texas’ No. 2 receiver but became its go-to target late in the season and in the College Football Playoff, finishing with 58 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns. His yards-after-catch ability and speed would provide a perfect complement to CeeDee Lamb.”

Elijah Arroyo: “The deep running back class allows Dallas a chance to keep waiting at that position. Getting the rising Arroyo here to pair with Golden in Round 1 completely changes the Cowboys’ offense, though. Tight end Jake Ferguson will be a free agent after next season, and Arroyo is a big red zone target at 6-foot-4 and 251 pounds.”

Notable 2025 NFL Draft Prospects the Cowboys passed on in this mock draft:
Ashton Jeanty (RB, Boise)
Emeka Egbuka (WR, OSU)
Luther Burden III (WR, Missouri)
Mykel Williams (EDGE, UGA)
Jahdae Barron (CB, Texas)
Shavon Revel Jr. (CB, East Carolina)
T.J. Sanders (DT, South Carolina)
Kaleb Johnson (RB, Iowa)
Nic Scourton (EDGE, Texas A&M)
Quinshon Judkins (RB, Ohio State)

  1. Martin requests a trade. Nobody offers anything for him because the rest of the league knows Jerry is a joke. He is then released and goes to wherever. We lose another HOF talent and get nothing back.

  2. Golden pick one word…NEED. Draft for need for once..don’t get it twisted we suck at drafting. Hate me all you want…until you do your research. We are not good at this.

  3. Would be nice to at least have him with less playing time if it’s necessary as he’s getting older. Even if it means a good deal for Dallas to keep him on. Martin I suspect would love to retire a cowboy. Definitely should retire a cowboy though.

  4. Trade down in the first for a second and third, maybe a later first and third, then trade down that first again for another second and third, possibly two thirds, or a later second and a fourth. We need picks, we have so many needs, but I don't think we have needs that can't be met in later rounds. We're not just one or two players away from A SB Team!

  5. Here is what I would do for the draft:

1st round – best WR available
2nd round – Kenneth Grant, TJ Sanders, or best DT available
3rd round – Nick Singleton or best RB available
Four 5th round picks – Raheim Sanders or Cam Skattebo, another DT, another WR, O-lineman
Two 6th rounders – edge rusher and a QB to sit and learn behind Dak

  6. There isn't a wr worth taken in the first 2 rounds I've studied the top wr's and honestly it's probably the weakest wr class in a long time might be better off trying to get tee Higgins probably won't happen js
