The Orioles offered Corbin Burnes what would have been the largest contract in team history, but Arizona was a perfect fit for him. He lives there and spring training for the D'Backs is there. A no-brainer for Corbin.
The problem with what you're asking for Dylan Cease, who's great, but he's just another one-year rental like Burnes: Too much! As an O's fan, I'd even hate to lose Heston Kjerstad, who has a very high ceiling. The only plus in a trade for Cease is that, unlike Burnes, he's an East Coast guy, so potentially the Birds would have a better chance to resign him, but still he's going to be sought by many teams, so no guarantee.
From the Padres side, I think keeping him makes more sense, because he's needed to top a rotation in a very tough division, and to deal him is to give up. If they're out of the NL West race by the All-Star break, then trade him, because the demand will be great for contenders. I root for San Diego for various reasons, including Manny Machado being a Padre!
Btw, Roch Kubatko's first name is pronounced "Rock".
Jason Hayward was so good last year that the Dodgers released him. 😂
Connor Joe and Jayson Heyward great signings for a team that is willing to spend much money. Maybe they will have a better year this year. Jayson Heyward make difficult catches in the outfield. He is a gold glover.
😂
I hear so many people rank other NL West rotations ahead of the Padres but really
..
The Dodgers may have Snell but Yamamoto has pitched terribly against the
Padres both times last year ai might bw goid but hasn't oriven himself ti be #1 quality yet.. Sasaki hasn't pitched against MLB level hitting yet except in the WBC. MLB teams will study bogh these pitcher a lot more closely from here on and maybe they'll do well but naybe not. AZ onlynhas Burnes and a few yohng pitchers tvat haven't priven thrmselvss yet snd SF is another step at least behind the D-backs.
The Padres on the other hand currently top the rotation with 3 pitchers that could lead practically any team in both the NL and AL. All three areblargrly interchangeable with at leastvl a full season starting which cannot be said of LA, SF or AZ top three in their rotations. And rounding out the rotation, Vasquez was making a big push towards ghe end of the season while Waldron couldn't figure out his troubles I fully expect Vasquez to nail down the 4 or 5 spot while we can hope Waldron has fixed his problems over the winter
Name me any other NL West team with as good prospects for their rotation entering Spring Training. The competitiin mught have a #1 ready to be named but things are very unsettled after that with a lot of promise but an erratic track record.
Like the signings of Connor Joe and Jason Heyward. Not much money spent and very low under the radar signings. If they can give us some versatility and add to our bench then it is worth it. Really want them to give Tirso Ornelas a shot at being the starting LF but if he can't prove he's ready this is a good backup plan.
If Baltimore wants Cease, then they need to give us some top players in exchange for it. The players mentioned are worth it but would look Mountcastle or Kjerstad.
Poor Javier. I feel so very sorry for him. I notice you are not slurping water on this broadcast. And, BTW, I usually stop watching you about 1/3 way through your broadcast. Have a great day!
Jayson Heyward is a great defensive outfielder. He is a gold glover and has a great arm. Injuries hurt him last year.
I’m a Mavericks fan and I’ll be damned if I can’t even go to a Padres podcast without hearing about the Luka trade…it was terrible for the Mavericks. I hate it and I’m tired of hearing about it 😢
25:00 Shohei Ohtani. They have Shohei Ohtani. Literally the single best player in baseball. That's who you blanked on.
Roch is pronounced "rock" and MASN is "mass-en"
Getting hyped for dodgers scraps in Hayward ?? Yeesh
