ESPN’s Field Yates on why he projects the Steelers to take Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart in Round 1 of his latest NFL mock draft:

“Yes, free agents Russell Wilson or Justin Fields could be back. But the Steelers’ pedestrian offense has held them back from playoff success in recent seasons, and Dart had a prolific college career. Over the past two seasons, he has 7,633 passing yards, 51 touchdown throws and 11 interceptions. (Dart is) a capable thrower to all levels of the field and has enough mobility to operate outside the pocket and on the run. Dart also took advantage of Senior Bowl week with a strong showing in front of Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin, who was on the field at each practice. This projection represents a big rise up the board from where Dart currently ranks outside my top 32, but quarterbacks always have a chance to climb given positional value. Keep an eye on Dart here as we get closer to April.”

  2. I’m not saying Tomlin is a bad coach, but I think it’s time for a fresh start. He sucked all of the oxygen out of the stadium, and now it’s time to let some fresh air in. Dart doesn’t look any worse than Russ or Justin, they also break down after their first read.

  5. Tomlins loyalty is truly the downfall of him. It’s no way you don’t make any coaching changes after falling five straight to end the season. It’s no way you run it back doing the same things and expecting different .. it’s insanity at this point

  6. It's sad the squealers can't fire Oscar Mayer he's a terrible coach he never lasted in the NFL as offensive lineman not even in the CFL either this dude's terrible it deserves to be unemployed as a coach

  7. We have officially become the cowboys organization. We dont care if we never win another superbowl just as long as the money keeps rolling in. We're going off of the reputation of the past great Steeler's franchises.

  8. I get that Meyer has been average at best. I will give him a pass on Troy he got Hurt. Broderick is also a project he was Raw. I think McCormick and especially Frazier are stars in the making.

    I'm okay with replacing Meyer but who replaces him? It's not Muchank. He is retired and very unlikely to return.

  9. A lot of Steelers fans think we are closer to a Super Bowl than we really are. There is a clear difference between teams like BUF, BAL, KC and us. We have no qb no o line our defense is the most expensive in a league and can’t get a stop. Coaches are flat and stagnant. We aren’t just a season away or a qb away unless we get someone who comes out and plays elite football year 1 in the black and gold

  10. And this is why you're not gonna win if you keep bringing back the same guys who are terrible at their job. I wouldn't be surprised if the young guys on the O-line regressed the following season.
    I also wouldn't be surprised if the defense regressed the following season. Didn't Austin get fired in Cincy back then?

  13. Now I’m not a pat meyer guy but he has seen success in guys like Frazier McCormick even Troy looked good before injury James developed over the last 3 years well. This is his last year. He’ll play it out and be evaluated on how the o line looks this year and this year alone

  17. The steelers will never win a championship again with Tomlin. They should sign fields for two years and draft ohio state quarterback Howard in round one. Give him two years to become the future. Stop this crap of signing one of these old quarterbacks. They are available because they suck.

  20. B. Only if you can get a WR1 in the draft or free agency. And you decide to get a WR2 in the draft or free agency. You can't cover both in either/or draft or free agency. Not enough draft capital or money to get both from either option so you'd have to use both.

    Edit: Trade away Pickens for whatever you can get within reason.

  21. Broderick started terrible. He did improve by the end of the season, was he great? No, but I saw improvement and a good attitude on the field as well. Hope can turn the corner this year finally

  25. The worst news already got announced like months ago and that was that Mike tomlin isn't going anywhere. This franchise is doomed with Mike at the helm. Promising change but walks it back saying he meant just people on expiring contracts not coming back. Him and rooney deserve each other. Mediocre af and I refuse to waste my time and money on this team.

Pittsburgh will hav a good reg season record again and will get bounced in th 1st round again and Tomlinson will b back again!!! it's ground hog day in steeltown….Anyway, we r not getting past the bills or ravens or chiefs maybe th same w chargers and Denver. so it doesn't matter who th offensive line coach is!

  37. I'm with you 100%. I DON'T want to reach in the draft for a QB. And I actually DON'T want Stafford, Darnold, Carr, or Rodgers. None of them are a clear upgrade over Fields/Wilson. Might as well give Fields or Wilson a 2nd year in the system. I'm going to get behind whoever they chose.
