Why Steelers’ WR Trade Can’t JUST Be for Deebo Samuel | Russell Wilson’s Camp Fanning Flames?

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to be open in the wide receiver trade market, but the type of player they get is important. Christopher Carter and Alan Saunders think that if the Steelers trade for Deebo Samuels from the San Francisco 49ers that it has to be coupled with a second move to boost the receiver group with George Pickens. Could the New York Jets playmaker Garrett Wilson be an option?

Also, Chris and Alan take your calls on the Locked on Steelers hotline with questions on trades, and whether Russell Wilson and his camp are feeding stories to media members to fan the flames for narratives to boost his public value. Chrs and Alan explain how sources work, and the dynamics involved in reporting sourced information and how those inform opinions.

Finally, Chris and Alan review the Locked on Steelers’ Stars and Skulls grades for the final grades of the Steelers’ receivers, including George Pickens, Calvin Austin and more.

  1. 14 dropped all those balls and played like crap because he was pissed at Russ for what he thought was said, as Alan had informed him about haha. He is unreliable, and I hope he is traded asap!

  4. If my 2 favorite podcasts had a baby!😂
Really enjoyed the perspective of a reporter about what you decide to run with or not and how/why you get information and share it. Great question from the caller.

  5. It's too much a Blame Game
    Blame Mike Tomlin
    Blame Russel Wilson
    Blame The O.C.

Man The Pgh Steelers Just Need Playmakers On Bothsides Of The Ball An Change The Coaching Skeems
    PERIOD !!!

  6. Pete Carroll got fired after 1 year without Russ. That Seahawks locker room was famously toxic. Guys like Sherman and Lynch are famous assholes. I'm so tired of hearing about how much the Seahawks hated Russ. That's on them. They suck, and running Russ out of town hasn't worked out for that organization.

But assholes get the benefit of the doubt, and good dudes get called corny. It's shitty that the Seahawks toxicity has to follow Russ around.

  7. Everything I’ve seen from Arthur Smith is chaotic. From the start of the season to the end; One week, play-action, run well, the next week, shotgun + moonballs, no play-action.
Even the run game schemes changed. I saw traps early on in the season, then nothing in the 2nd half.
And then there’s the personnel part that I have a hard time understanding.
GP, arguably one of the best contested catchers in the NFL gets a whopping 3 targets a game? How?
Washington, who makes LBs and DBs look like pee wee players barely used?
    How?
Harris on toss plays? Why and how? lol.
Pat hardly getting targets per game? How?

For the entire season, Smith’s schemes looked like he was “feeling things out”
‘Not doing too much, just enough, but sometimes falling short”
    I don’t get it.

How do you begin the season in OTAs, go all the way through training camp, preseason, 6-7 games into the regular season and STILL don’t have a slate of go-to pass and run plays? At least have a script of sure plays to start a game?

How many times during that 5 game stretch did we go 3-out? I know a lot of people argue that our players are lacking but man, you’re not gonna have much success in ANY offense throwing the ball 40 yards down field on a 3rd and 2. For most teams that’s a sack for about a 7-10 yard loss.

This is the last thing I’m gonna say. I don’t think Smith is a very good OC. He might be a good guy, but he’s all over the play as an OC. Too often he tries to shove square pegs into round holes. He’s rigid as hell from my perspective and wants specific players to fit into what he wants to do on any given game day. I get it, but at the end of the day, the goal should be to win; move the chains, get first downs, get TDs etc. He doesn’t maximize the talent he has because he wants everyone to fit into the roles he wants them to play in and it’s dumb as hell.

  8. People have to stop just looking at a CB's or WR's height and thinking all guys 5'10" and under are "slot guys." DJ Reed played 803 snaps at Wide CB, 11 in the slot

  9. Russell Wilson’s current resume
    2012-2024 (13 seasons)

Russ’s 2024 season with Steelers: TD-INT 16-5 (3:1), completion % 63.7, 2482 passing yards, 155 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns in 11 starts. Playoff loss vs Baltimore: TD-Int 2-0, completion % 68.9, passer rating 121.3. Started the season W-L 6-1. Played the toughest 5 games schedule to end the season with terrible offensive line, one top tier receiver who missed 3 games, overrated defense, run first and predictable offense, and with coaches holding back Russ. No need to elaborate because Russ made the Pro Bowl, making him a top 10 QB.

2 Super Bowls appearances and 1 win, Super Bowls passer rating 116.8, TD-Int 4-1. 10 X Pro Bowler, 5 legitimate MVP caliber seasons, 130 combined wins, combined > 50K passing yards and 377 passing TD’s, TD-Int ratio > 3-1, passing rating ~ 100, combined ~ 6K rushing yards and 34 rushing TD’s, combined 36 4QC’s and 44 GWD’s, historically great dual threat QB, top 5-10 in most QB statistics, 199 regular season and 17 playoffs starts. Russ’s spectacular passes, moon balls, creative plays, Houdini like escapes, great runs, and poised 4QC’s and GWD’s are entrenched in our memories. Playoffs Hail Mary against the Packers, 50 yards Hail Mary against the Commanders, you got it.

    Russell Wilson’s HOF Narrative
Pro Football QB Hall of Fame Monitor ranks Russell Wilson ahead of Eli Manning, Kirk Cousins, Kurt Warner and Matthew Stafford.

Russell Wilson will be the first Super Bowl winning black QB with consistency, longevity, accolades and achievements to make the HOF. This notion scares the Jesus out of these bigoted racists. No consolatory HOF enshrinement with the likes of Steve McNair and Warred Moon, but HOF based on merit. Haters are desperately and incoherently rambling with innuendos and lies to shorten Russ’s career and taint his legacy. With undeserved fascination and constant attention, Russ is living rent free in the heads of these bigoted racists. Donovan McNabb and Cam Newton’s careers were unceremoniously cut short because it’s known black QB’s are on short leashes while average white QB’s are afforded career longevity. You need to ask uncomfortable questions, and research bigotry, racism and racial stacking in the NFL. These talking heads, former backup QB’s, former failed coaches, unathletic white men with dingleberries, petty and feminine men, and bigoted racists have no idea what they are talking about, and often contradicts themselves in the same sentence. 3 out of 4 QB’s in this year’s conference championship games and Super Bowl rematch were black QB’s. 2 top QB prospects for 2025 NFL draft are black QB’s. Get with the program and enjoy the ride!

Read and hear how talking heads frame the narratives about Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford. Age, lack of grit, top tier offensive line, top tier receivers, lack of arm strength, lack of mobility, W-L, and chocking in the biggest games don’t matter. There is always next year, more opportunities to play in a better system, needing help, blah blah blah. Hold them accountable, criticize them without fear of repercussions and stop making excuses for them if you want them to be gritty football players. Stop judging QB’s with intelligence and bullshit semantics to elevate white QB’s.

    Russell Wilson’s HOF Narrative
Pro Football QB Hall of Fame Monitor ranks Russell Wilson ahead of Eli Manning, Kirk Cousins, Kurt Warner and Matthew Stafford. It objectively makes sense because look up season to season W-L records and stats, and account for top tier and HOF teammates. Career longevity and opportunities afforded to white QB’s are simply astonishing. You are bound to have a couple of good seasons in the era of salary cap and constant reassembling of top tier talents. I should say “accommodate not discriminate” in the same token when talking about Russ.

Russell Wilson will be the first Super Bowl winning black QB with consistency, longevity, accolades and achievements to make the HOF. This notion scares the Jesus out of these bigoted racists. Stop judging QB’s with intelligence and bullshit semantics to elevate white QB’s. Keep your thoughts on these QB’s instead of Russell Wilson. He is already a HOFER, so save yourselves the headaches and stress. History will judge NFL and it’s fans negatively if a Pro Bowl black QB isn’t afforded a starting job. Let’s not repeat the injustices experienced by Cam Newton and Donovan McNabb, kicked out after 11th and 13th NFL seasons respectively. Man, I love this shit. Time has changed. I see misery in the eyes of bigoted racists. All the innuendos, lies, racial semantics and statistical manipulation against Russ just proves these bigoted racists are desperate now. Is Russ playing himself out of the HOF? How petty, feminine and pathetic does this sound. Go tickle your buttholes with racist feathers. There is nothing in it for you, you get nothing out of this. Grow up girly men in America, live happily or else your testosterone levels will drop further. Don’t Let Russ Live Rent Free in Your Delusional Heads. Believe Russ is a white QB, problems solved.
