How were the Dallas Mavericks surprised by fan reactions after the Luka/AD trade?

1. The Lakers is the NBA ‘s team. Wilt, Magic, Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, and now Luka. They make sure that every potential goat plays there. Stealing Luka in the middle of a Saturday night proves this sleazy league will do anything to save themselves. Nothing is too low.

2. All Mavs organization has shown by doing this trade and the way they did it…..all they showed was an enormous amount of ARROGANCE. it's the only explanation i can find. Then, we should not ignore their ignorance!

3. I’ve been a Mavs fan since 2006 when I moved to Dallas. I became obsessed with the team when Luca joined because I was astounded at his greatness. It was similar to how I felt watching Jordan in the 80s and 90s. I cannot support the Mavs ownership at this time, which is sad because I like their players very much. For now I follow Luca and cheer the Lakers on. I will still listen to your podcast as I enjoy the whole Maverick podcast community.

4. I "was" a Mavs fan. Now I will give my attention to San Antonio. They know how to treat a legend.

5. The mavs owner hated luka and let it be known by trading him. In return, he is the most hated person in Dallas. The worst part is he could care less about what mavs fans think or feel. 7. uhhh lakers fan here from socal…..I BELIEVE KOBE PASSED THE TORCH TO LUKA IN 2018 in that infamous game where KOBE brought GIGI……yea we lakers fan know at that time ….KOBE TOLD PELANKA to get LUKA no matter what and KOBE told LUKA as well.

11. Lakers fan here. I'm just as shocked at this trade. This all falls on the owner of the Mavericks. Any idiot knows you don't trade a unicorn of a player like Luka. He just went to the Finals. Repeatedly won playoff series as the underdog. He is still only 25 and a perennial All-NBA 1st team player. All they had to do was offer him the super max contract. He wanted to stay. Instead they trade him for an older injury prone star, a young rotational player and one first round pick. I wouldn't trade Luka for 5 first round picks. Then they try to sell the fans that he is lazy, out of shape, and has a drinking problem. So he's All-NBA without even working hard. Even if he didn't win a championship just the entertainment value would have been worth it. Then the comparison to Shaq sealed it, they don't know what they're doing. The fans should be PISSED. Not even a championship in the next few years is going to balance how lopsided this trade was. The worst part is how the fans are being silenced for stating the obvious, what these professionals are paid to know already. That this was one of if not the single stupidest trade in the history of sports. Kidd will be fired, Nico definitely should be fired but unfortunately you can't fire the owner. But you don't have to give your hard earned money to them. Especially when they don't care about you. Good luck Mavs fans, it's hard enough to win without your owner destroying everything.

12. The most shocking thing is that the reason for the trade really seems personal. It doesn’t make basketball or financial sense, all the reporting shows that it came down to Nico’s personal feelings about Luka

13. Pelinka got Nico sooo turned around, that he (Nico) actually believed he'd be lauded for such a 'courageous' trade.

14. First, its not the Mavs fans singled out, that were in shock and still are in shock for who knows how long, its most bball fans including LA fans.
    Second, Luka is a generational Superstar, Yes, but he is even above that. He is international known, He was 17 when he was Euroleague MVP. You can not compare him to his predecessor, since there never was a Talent as big as him. Not even MJ, but MJ and Wilt are comparable to him in terms of Talent above the rest of their era above those who came after, till infinity. As good as Generational Talent sounds, imo its downgrading Luka.

15. I just don’t feel anything anymore when the team wins or loses.

16. The Mavs were barely hanging on to a playoff spot and I was really looking forward to getting him back. I seemed like if Luka was on our side, we had a chance. Now he’s gone and he ain’t coming back and it sucks!
