This Could Be THE END Of The Toronto Blue Jays…

I’m not exaggerating when I say this… This could very well be the end of the Toronto Blue Jays… This past week, Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s self imposed negotiation deadline passed without a deal in place. Vladdy spoke to the media and was very direct about the entire negotiation process. Following Guerrero. Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro also came out and spoke about the negotiation process, where they had some very confusing things to say… Regardless, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be hitting free agency this fall and the Blue Jays now have to compete with 29 other teams for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ‘s services, which based on this Blue Jays front office will be a daunting task. If Vladimir Guerrero Jr. chooses to leave the Toronto Blue Jays, that would lead to the sudden demise of the Blue Jays franchise.

  5. Y’all act like this is new i’ve been a jays fan since 1990 we have always been cheap they don’t like to sign longer than five years I bet they only offered six years at 240 million and I’m being generous for the Jay’s front office. Pay this man! @27

  6. The front office have 3 choices: 1)pay now to minimize the damage, 2)pay later but lots of money, or 3)screw the future. I think they will .. unfortunately choose the worst..

  8. Atkins answer spoke volumes. They weren't even relatively close, obviously. He doesn't want to disclose anything because they know they were lowballing him. I bet Vladdy wanted around 500 mill and they wouldn't go above 400

  12. My guess is that Vlad wanted a very long term deal, such as 15 years, but the Blue Jays wouldn't go over 10 years. Term was likely the factor, not AAV/money.

    Quite a few long term deals aged horribly in recent years, which could cause front offices to shy away from offering a contract that's even longer than those were.

  15. You do know negotiations are between two sides right? And you do know if Rogers wanted Vladdy signed he would be signed. You believe Atkins and Shapiro went rogue against their bosses orders? Use your brain.

  18. I hate Atkins as much as the next guy but you wouldn't want him discussing specific numbers anyway. Usually his question dodging bothers me but in this case he made the right move. It sets a bad precedent for future negotiations with other players.

  21. Atkins behaved responsibly and I am certain that he has full ownership support…if the competition is full of irresponsible management there is no question that the Jays should not stoop to their level no matter what the consequences are🤷‍♂️

  22. Another thing, why is everyone so bent out of shape over this? Dude likely wants in excess of 500 mill. You really want to pay that much for a 1B whose likely going to be a fulltime DH in a couple years? Last year people were saying get rid of him because he had a couple down years.

    Here's what needs to happen:

    1) Fire Atkins and find a new GM.

    2) Start fielding offers for Vlad and Bo and anyone else on the MLB roster with a pulse

    3) Take some of that money you're not going to spend on Vlad and reinvest it in scouting and player development. And I mean really invest because we are absolutely abysmal in those areas.

    4) Prepare for some rough seasons. If we are ever going to do a proper rebuild, now is the time. You have the Yankees in a strong position, the Orioles set to be great for at least a half a decade and the Red Sox on the verge of calling up 3 of the top 10 prospects in all of baseball. Trying to compete with those teams over the next few seasons is foolish.
