I don’t think it will happen, but if they really think he is damaged goods maybe he is…

Rappoport isn’t one to just throw this out wild stuff. Maybe they just see injury issues and taking the pill now instead of later.

  1. I feel like that’s super lazy reporting. AP has made it clear it was a next season move from the beginning and Keim keeps reiterating that.

  2. Yeah the trade was a dud, I don’t care how much the kool aid drinkers disagree. He’s owed $18 million next year, none of it guaranteed. Ask yourself: how much do you think Jaire Alexander (an oft-injured, former all pro) gets paid next year?

  3. That’s contradictory to what AP said during his Press Conference. We’ll know for sure soon.

  4. AP pretty much confirmed we are keeping him in the end of the year press conference. Plus why would we get rid of him that’s just creating another position we need to fill. Might as well keep him because than you gave up all that draft capital for nothing. At the very least he can lock up number 2 receivers

  5. At the postseason presser Adam Peters sounded pretty definitive that Lattimore is part of the team’s plans going forward.

Wonder if Rapoport is hearing anything about him getting cut or just identifying him as a player with no guaranteed money left.

  6. Don’t shoot the messenger people! I agree with Ken that Ian is not the type to make shit up…so maybe it is being discussed. Sort of a like where there is smoke type deal…

  7. I used to call him Always Wrong Rapaport. He used to be totally unreliable for things like this. I do feel like he’s gotten better. But this is also the second time I’ve typed this in r/commanders this off season …

  8. Zero fucking way this happens. Rappoport also said Kirko was going to be traded to the Browns “right now” (8 years ago), the guys an idiot who spouts any rumor with the same legitimacy as a confirmed report. We may do it if we get Reed or a high draft pick or something, but there is just no way Peters does this without a replacement, and he likely still doesn’t even do it then.

  9. Who is Ken J?

And if Ian Rappoport is “saying something” why isn’t the quote in this tweet? Or even better, why isn’t OP finding the actual quote and sharing that? Instead of some random fan account who buys relevance in the form of a blue check for $8 a month providing at best a second hand account of what Ian did or didn’t say?

  10. I don’t see us cutting him this early. While he is a huge question mark for us, i don’t see AP and DQ cutting him without giving him a shot next year, especially when we have so many roster holes to fill. This year he did not perform well for us, was way to handsy, constant PIs, and got burnt on numerous occasions. Now could that be due to being injured atleast half of last year? Yes it could, but we don’t know that. We will be able to tell next year fairly early into the season if it was due to rust, lack of play, and injury, or if he simply has reached that point in his career where he is not a top CB and is washed.

  11. Marshon St. Juste

Evaluate the play on your own, but Lattimore had 3 penalties in 5 games played.

St. Juste has 8 penalties in 17 games played.

In my opinion, it would be malpractice going into next season assuming CB1 is no longer a position of need.

  12. Not happening. AP flat out said the trade was more than just this past season and that he will be here next year. They’re going to give Lattimore a full offseason to get completely healthy and integrated into the defense. It’d be an incredibly stupid decision to move off of him before getting that chance.

  13. Ian wasn’t necessarily focusing on it as a report. He was just stating players that could be cut for cap space and Lattimore happened to be on the list.

  14. Who is Ken Johannesen? If it’s Ian Rappoport saying this why wouldn’t we link to that comment instead of this guy? Off season game of telephone.

  15. Is anybody actually reporting this?

Is this post based on anything other than a fan tweet?

  16. They knew Lattimore was probably going to struggle when he first came back. They didn’t give up multiple picks to just cut the guy after like 5 starts. This is silly.

  17. Call me crazy but I wasn’t impressed by Lattimore. I was excited when he signed, and I know it was a gamble with the injuries but once he did play I was pretty disappointed.

  18. Ken there and OP out there not practicing due diligence. Rapport didn’t put out his opinion, but he did link to an article where the opinion is found… [https://www.nfl.com/news/2025-nfl-free-agency-derek-carr-tyler-lockett-among-21-notable-cut-candidates-in-nfc](https://www.nfl.com/news/2025-nfl-free-agency-derek-carr-tyler-lockett-among-21-notable-cut-candidates-in-nfc)

    Within it is…

Myself, I was right away against the trade. What even were were doing trading for a guy whose last half of his career is a plague of injury? The trade maneuvering to cost the least capital was aces, the guy AP went after…not so much.

AP, like Ken there and OP….did not do his diligence. I get he felt internal pressure to make a move. The team was on a run and the secondary was a serious area of concern. AP made the trade and then, went into justification mode which hey, is what you do when stuck waiting six games for a guy to take the field.

Since the end of the season, I have no idea what if any ongoing thought has occurred. For all I know, Lattimore and the locker room, coaches included have fully embraced one another, one hand complimenting the other and ready to roll. Or…they hit a snag. Again, I don’t know. I don’t know and don’t want to speculate cause it’s offseason filler put on sports writers to produce something or be out of a job.
