Steelers NFL mock drafts: Is Ashton Jeanty too good to pass up if he’s available?

Host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko react to the week in Steelers NFL mock draft picks from around the Internet.

Is Ashton Jeanty a running back too good to pass up on if he’s available to GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin at No. 21 overall? Is the roster ready to help him thrive? Or would his production be limited by the pieces around him like Saquon Barkley’s was with the New York Giants before he became a finishing piece for the Phiadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl run? And to what degree is Najee Harris a cautionary example of taking a running back in the first round?

Why is Luther Burden III a rising pick for the Steelers at receiver, eclipsing names like Emeka Egbuka and Matthew Golden this week? Does East Carolina CB Shavon Revel Jr. make sense despite injury concerns? Is Washington State’s Kyle Williams a later-round receiver to watch? And what are Brian’s thoughts on QBs Jalen Milroe and Jaxson Dart as they continue to show up in numerous Steelers mocks? Our duo tackles those questions and more.

  1. You need to fix the lines first to have a good running game!! Hello!!! This is the same mistake the Steelers made with Najee. You could have Barry Sanders in your backfield but if your O Line sucks then so will your RB. Until that Steelers O Line is fixed the idea of taking any RB early when you have a deep draft in RB’s is beyond stupid! Our D Line also needs to be fixed! You can get a very good back in the 4th or 5th round in this draft. No reason to pick one early with all the holes we have!!

  2. I do not understand the sports media it is like they do not watch the games. They are so obsessed with WR, OB, and RB but ignore the real needs DL, OL, and secondary, with me they have lost all or most of creditability

  3. Zero chance you pass up on this guy. Watch him. He's elite and we don't normally get to pick elite guys where we draft.

We complain that we have no offensive identity. Jeanty gives you one in a hurry.

Sign Darnold. Trade a 5th for DeBo. Draft Jeanty. Draft Bech in the 2nd as a WR of the future.

    Brand new offense.

  4. Picking a lesser player over fear you cant handle the better players personality is dumb. Jalen carter in the league hasnt been a boy scout or being the robot football player the media wants but hes a top dt. Draft the best football player unless you genuinely think he is a bad person

  5. I would much rather have dart than milroe but I am not drafting either of them before the fourth round this team needs a corner, a defensive lineman, and a receiver at the top three rounds

  6. Big board. Travis Hunter. Ashton Jenty. Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Derrick Harmon, Tetorira McMillan, Will Cambell, Abdul Carter, Will Johnson, shavon revel, Walter Nolan, Emeka Egbuka

  7. The Blasphemy on Jeanty is disrespectful….. Jeanty all day, he has bursts through the hole like Warren does with us… It works! The Blasphemy…😮
