    And the fact they've been dragging this out, allowing the media to randomly speculate about other possibilities available…The Steelers might have been better off kicking over a hornets nest, with the way the fan base has been fuming over this situation.

    They're not doing themselves any favors by leaving us all hanging by a string of assumptions from the media.

18. I hear what you are saying, but the problem is Fields is table-scraps too. He's actually worse than the filler old QBs. Show me where it has ever worked to force at $30mil+ on a QB that isn't a true starter? No I'm not just saying that based on the Bears. I'm saying that based on his entire body of work, including last year where he threw a grand total of ONE TD to any Steeler's WR. Why pay $30mil or even $25mil for a guy that simply CAN'T THROW??

19. Fields is just a cheap imitation of Kordell Stewart. And Stewart was as inconsistent as they came. Did you look at the points their offense scored in the games he started last year? The defense carried them. He's a bust, clearly.

24. IMHO, Fields will sign with the Jets. They will likely sign him to a two year deal in the neighborhood of 25-35 million dollars with 20-25 guaranteed. He can reunite with his college teammate. Devante Adams, who Fields is familiar with as advisories in the NFC north along with the new HC who was the DC for the Lions. I encourage you to look at the highlights of Justin Fields against the Lions his three years in Chicago. The Bears would have swept the Lions easily the 2023 season if it weren't for the most in competent head coach in Eberflus and dr. jekyll mr hyde OC Getsy.

36. What has Fields really shown as a QB besides the potential of being a running QB and being young? He still has some major flaws in his game; can’t read defenses, takes too many sacks- for a running QB, doesn’t have any come back victories (shoot Pickett has more than him) When and if he fails to be mediocre,whats gonna be the narrative then?

37. signing Fields to a 2-3 year deal is a win-win. If he improves and builds off of his 6 game stretch and plays well, great. If he doesn't, then he's a really solid backup QB.

42. Steelers probably offered him a lowball amount and Justin is like ok we'll see what other teams are offering. With this roster the Steelers need to overpay him to stay especially if Pickens is more important to the organization. That clown said AR is his dream qb. That alone shows mental health issues Justin doesn't need.

43. Not picking up Justin Fields $25.6 million 5th-Year Option was a mistake if the plan was to keep Fields under the 50% snap count. Now Fields is free of the Rookie contract and if the Steelers insulted Fields with offers below the $25.6 million they stripped him of, he's gone and they know it.

    Russ knew Fields wouldn't return if he was low-balled. Maybe that's why Russ was so confident of returning?

Yes… 100% get the deal done with Fields but imagine this… they sign Fields to big money, long term and also have the option to draft someone like Howard.. what happens when Fields and the offense opens the season next year slowly.. averaging 17 points, 2-2 record and 3-3 TD/interceptions.. the entire fanbase is going to go full Kenny Pickett crazy again and demand Howard to see the field. If you sign Fields, commit to the man!
