We Are Living Through the Golden Age of Detroit Sports this Century – Backed Up with Data

2024-25 has been the best collective season of Detroit sports this century. Let me explain my methodology:
* I only included the Big 4 pro sports – Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings
* The season is counted in the year it began. Spring and the Tigers are our first season, followed by the Lions, Wings, and Pistons. So, the 2024-25 Lions, Wings, and Pistons are included in “2024”.
* I did not factor in playoff records or championships. This was meant to indicate the collective regular season efforts.
* Tigers, Lions, and Pistons are all standard win percentages. Red Wings are points percentage (total points/possible points)
I wonder how this compares for say 1960-2025. I still think at a minimum, this is a top 3 all time event.
I also believe there could be a way to average it in a way that accounts for success across the board so an insane season by one of the four doesn’t skew it (I don’t math, forgive me if what I described is something simple and obvious)
Now let’s see if we can bring some hardware home to this city.
