[NHL Player Safety] Anaheim’s Trevor Zegras will have a hearing today for interference against Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen

  1. Does he have any history yet?

I’d guess anywhere from a fine, to two games. I’ll split the difference and say one game.

If I was in charge, I give him ten games, nine of which were just for complaining.

  2. I hope something comes of it. I hate that little asshole, even before last night. It’s like being on a team with Gudas AND Trouba made him even more of an asshole.

  3. Ken was saying over the broadcast that the lead ref can review the play and make a call if there was an egregious call that was missed. Is this true? If so, why didn’t they do that here?
McClellan said after the game that the refs told him they can’t go back and “make it up.”
    Anyone know the rule??

  4. Absolutely dirty hit and they were letting Radko get away with murder throughout too. Typical NHL bullshit.

  5. In person or virtual? The league “usually” imposes more discipline with player present versus online meeting.

  6. How is it interference if there wasn’t an interference penalty called on the play? Hmmmmm.

  7. Wait, no call on the play, an actual decision coming after the game. Actually going in the Wings way somehow? Is this real life?

  8. He gives the biggest spoiled brat energy I’ve seen in a long time.

Not wishing injury or anything, I just hope he learns to be better at some point.

  9. I don’t want them to be able to call missed penalties… But I feel like the department of player safety should be able to bench a player mid game without a penalty to the team if they know without a doubt they are being called in for a hearing.

A player who puts another player in danger shouldn’t be able to continue playing until the hearing has been concluded.

Wouldn’t take power from the refs and would prevent a player who shouldn’t be playing from affecting the game any further.

  10. “And if you look closely right here, Trevor, you can clearly see that you’re a massive turd. 3 games.”

  11. I usually don’t complain about the refs, but I honestly feel like they were responsible for most of the unnecessary shit in that game after they reviewed and decided NOT to penalize Zegras. Both of the weekend games in Detroit have had the refs looking terrible.

  12. Obviously, we’re all a little biased, but I think that deserves at least a week sussy. Clear intent to harm and obvious targeting of the head. Rasmussen is 6’8” and Zegras is 6’ even…the proof is in the sheer physics.

  13. if you look at the replay what makes the play even worse is he looks directly at Rasmussen’s head before hitting him

  14. It’ll be 1-3 games. Just enough say “hey we did something”, and not enough for the player to actually stop doing what they’re doing. NHL player safety really is a clown show.

  15. This is why there are 4 officials on the ice: call your team over at the whistle, ask if anyone saw anything. Linesmen, if it’s a major, can tell the referees. It’s just that simple. You (the referees) go through training and get paid very well that this type of shit should get called every time.
