Steelers Seven-Round Mock Draft | Steelers Morning Rush

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s Alan’s second seven-round mock draft of the 2025 NFL Draft cycle, coming just at the close of the 2025 NFL Combine.

In this mock draft, the Steelers went defensive line first, landing Michigan nose tackle Kenneth Grant, followed by Stanford WR Elic Ayomanor, Iowa State CB Darien Porter, Virginia Tech RB Bhayshul Tuten and more. Alan breaks it down with the latest from Indy. #steelers #herewego #nfl

  1. Good draft Alan, the Grant pick was a nice opener. Ayomanor is a bit more raw than Higgins who ran same the same 4.47 but with a much faster 10 split, bigger wingspan, and 6'4. Watched a lot of Iowa State and Porter would be a steal late in RD3. Real fast, good size, and the thing I liked about State this year was a real team vibe and a real humble attitude despite several highly talented playmakers on both sides of the ball. Higgins, Noel, and Porter will all be successful NFL players. Tuten has fumbling issues but to get a runner like him in RD4 is a bargain. I'd be very happy with your draft haul.

  2. What's interesting to watch is the QB carousel and how much these other teams are willing to over-pay for Russ or Fields. Khan not over-paying could land us another bargain cap dump Cousins or Carr or a cheap but motivated Daniel Jones, or a 4th/5th-round rookie like McCord who'd be serviceable and might surprise. 2026 is when we can move up aggressively for a top rated QB.

  3. You're a pretty knowledgeable guy… So let's do this we're going to play rather than… Would you rather Jordan Davis or Saquon Barkley Jalen Carter Saquon Barkley ,
    Cam Heyward or Le'Veon Bell
    Aaron Donald or Barry Sanders
Reggie White or Emmitt Smith I'm taking that top tier running back over every defensive tackle especially considering you hire Arthur Smith is your offensive coordinator who needs a dynamic running back. The other option is wr you're basically choosing Tee Higgins over Joe Mixon or Martavis Bryant over Le'Veon Bell in other words a number 2 over a premier running back I know the analysts and GMs have tried to downplay the importance of the running back position don't let it fool you .. every super bowl Worthy team this year except Kansas City had a top tier running back Detroit had 2 Philadelphia Baltimore we don't even have to speak on Green Bay even James Cook 1100 yd 16 touchdowns and he missed some games

  4. Running back Running back Running back Running back you bring in Arthur Smith as the offensive coordinator and you're going to draft a the defensive player or a number two wide receiver instead of a running back let me say this again Arthur Smith is your offensive offensive coordinator we don't have a number one running back and your thought process is defensive tackle or wide receiver that's like telling me you want to be a rocket scientist and you don't take any math classes

  5. The Golden hate has to be studied. Man ran a 4.29 but didnt run well enough? Smh. Out of all of the projected 1st rd wr, i feel like he has the most potential to be a great #1.

  6. Two people who are climbing the boards that are interesting is Jaxson Dart and Will Howard. Joel Klatt has Dart at #3 QB with a mid Rd 1 grade and I think he had Sanders 4th on the position chart and a low 1st Rd grade which I thought was interesting. Howard has a late 1st or top of the 2nd at #5 at present. Honestly I thought that was fair. Kiper had Dart as a mid to late 1st. Cosell I listen to how the QBs break down in situational play. Those are the three guys I listen to, basically to get a consensus on a player. Before I watch tape or see what Draft Buzz and a few others have to say. If both Howard and Dart are projected in late Rd 1 then I could see us trading down even if the guys you are mentioning are still on the board. Reason I think this is a possibility is because they are interviewing QBs, but not talking to them in practices from what I have seen. I think thats done on purpose to throw people off after Tomlin had tipped their hands in past drafts by over talking to guys they were interested in. So, I wouldnt rule out QB. Especially in a trade down. JMO.

  7. They can always take Eddy Grant he's on electric avenue can I have somebody like that it's on electric avenue the squealers might win a lot of games then he's going to take it higher lol

  8. Throw away year for Steelers.but i think they can get some dt help and maybe a corner.the offense will continue to be bad.they will stick with russ till they can draft a qb next year.fields was never a part of there plan or they would have signed at seasons end.

  9. Have to say pretty good mock draft. Surprised considering your previous ones. The 2nd round receivers are impressive and there's no reason we can't get one.

  10. I couldn't agree more with Grant or Egbuka…Only Harmon at D-Line is who we will mostly end up with if we don't move up..That's us, we end up with guys and act like we wanted him 1st.. 2nd round- Alexander D-Line or Higgins , Royal at WR.. 3rd Judkins, Johnson at RB or Morrison or Porter at CB.. 4th Horton, Gadsden at WR or Cam Jackson, Dion Walker at D-Line.. 5th- Shavon Rebal CB or Cj West at D-Line or Ayomanor at WR..

  11. I have zero confidence in this new front office's ability to find a WR. They're currently 0-for in their WR moves in the last 2 years, except maybe Skowronek & Wilson as a good #4 & #5? Egbuka & Golden (starters playing 50+ snaps) > Grant (rotational piece in Nickel heavy defense that will play 20-25 snaps per game like Benton as a rookie). So they'll prob take Grant.

Elic Ayomanor is the most uninspired early WR pick I've ever seen – so that's prob their guy. Who needs to separate in this league anyway? I'm usually on board with Alan, but the last year in WR hell has left me a bit jaded.

  12. I thought about going Dt in the first but then I thought what Dexter Lawrence does for the Giants and what Malik Nabers does for the giants and it’s two totally different game changers.

  13. I did the seven round draft simulator. I ended up with Emeka Ebuka, Lathan Ransom, Denzel, Burke, Nick Nash, Ty Hamilton, Cam Horsley, Alijah Huzzie, and Miles Hinton. if the Steelers draft ended up close to this would be truly amazing. I know I didn’t get a running back, but I’m hoping we do that through free agency.
