I was talking about this the other day and if I was Trotz I want Mercer and that would be the main basis of this deal. With it being a sellers market I could see us getting some picks as well. That’s if this is enough value for Trotz to decide to move on from ROR

He would go for an absolute haul in this current market. Especially with two years left, at a bargain 4.5 AAV.
i honestly don’t see it happening, this team would be in dire straights without ror and trotz still clearly wants to be competitive next season. can’t do that with zero centers.
mercer regressed last year finishing with only 33 points and has similar stats this season on a very good jersey team, no way he’d be worth giving up o’reilly rn.
Hopefully we get a bidding war going. Personally not interested in trying to compete next year so I would be a lot easier to work with. Trotz is probably going to want someone who can be like 80% of oreilly right now as a starting point and idk if thats in anyones cards
The ROR resurgence at 2×4.5 seems like a really good deal for a team competing now. A race to the bottom means he needs to go though. He has been such a stud for us.
I wouldn’t be mad, just sad to see him go. I like to think of him as the cool uncle that’s done all sorts of cool stuff that all the kids in the locker room get advice from.
If we trade him then wtf is the plan Trotz? Have zero centers and all aging wingers? Im ready to rebuild I’m tired of this repair on the fly BS, its been years of this and so far we’ve only gotten worse.
ROR has become one of my favorite preds I would be gutted to lose him
I would only be alright with that if we got an absolute haul for him. I’d like Mercer, and it seems that he functions well in a Burnette system based on how he performed in that 22-23 season. The only thing is that I would be expecting Mercer and more for ROR. And I just don’t know how desperate New Jersey would be to get ROR in order to pay more or less a kings ransom for him
This would never happen, but if they are willing to part ways with Simon Nemec, we need to make it happen.
RoR for Nemec. We need a RHD for the future 1st pairing, and Nemec could be that RHD.
Alternatively, if you did get Nemec, you flip Nemec for Cousins, because Buffalo needs a good young RHD more than they need Cousins with the prospects with their center depth and their lack of depth at RHD. They moved Thompson to the wing because Kulich is playing so well.
Or could we package Nemec and a first for Kulich?
