Couldn’t keep them all, might be tough to find a replacement as good as him though. Vikings got two of our OL!
Just makes OL a bigger priority in the draft. Gotta have depth / starter there.
Massive overpay but well deserved
That’s a lot of money. Hopefully we have a backup plan
Yeah we were never paying 5/88 for a guard when we already have Q. Fucking hell.
Good on him for getting the cash, especially after the injury, and it’s a good team trying to win now
So vikings are just signing our OL. Interesting strategy.
Ooof that’s a tough one, one of the only true “pay our guys” player. Crazy Ballard didn’t get him to stay, not sure what we do at RG now, Tucker got exposed the more he played.
Good for him, hell of a payday.
Damn, I kinda understand why we didn’t go for that price though.
Minn upgraded their OL big time
Tough to lose him. But I get not paying $90 Million to a RG. One of the easier positions to replace someone. I’ll miss him though, and Minny got a good one.
Not bad for a 7th round pick. Pour one out for French Fries
Really feel like we’ll end up going Tyler booked at 14 now that fries is gone
Yeah this one felt inevitable but I still hate to see it.
Good for him, we could never give him that deal.
Damn, I was hoping they’d be able to use the money saved from Kelly and Braden’s restructure to bring him back.
Do we still have Glow?
Looks like we’re going after OL in the draft. So much for Tyler Warren or improving the defense. It’s shaping up to be another mediocre or sub mediocre year! Can’t wait
I want to be mad but I am just glad we are doing something
Fuuuuuuuuuuu
Glad he got paid, but that feels like a bit of an overpay.
Good for Him!!! For Us, why would we ever pay that much for a RG when we have more pressing needs at premium positions. I think Minnesota will regret this contract but it’s worth the risk to protect JJ
Good luck in Minnesota!
Would have loved to have him back, but Secondary was our top priority this year in FA.
My flair is cooked
We don’t like our guys.
Wow! A tough loss for us but good for him. No way Indy could/should have matched that.
At least he went out of conference. I’d heard rumors that the Texans wanted him, and that would have sucked much worse than him leaving.
Between Fries and Dayo, I’m content with spending that money on bigger holes at CB and S. Good for Will getting that bag though. 7th round pick to a starting guard locked in for $17 mil a year.
I’m wondering if the plan is to put Goncalves at RG. Either way, definitely need to address OL depth in the draft. Not a bad plan considering everyone is calling this draft a “meat and potatoes” type of draft.
I feel great about 3-4 of our starters (Raiman, Q, Smith) with Bortolini showing promise at C. We couldn’t afford to sink that much capital on oline, let alone at guard specifically.
It’s interesting to see how spot on Ballard was with this pick. I remember Ballard gushing over about how he was able to get Fries in the 7th round that year, and most of us were like “Who?”
We may be hard on Ballard at times, but it’s good to see when he’s right.
Good for Will
We dealt with it for half of the season.

Kelley and Fries stay together!
So do we get a comp pick?
French Fries are over
I thought we liked our guys?
We lost French fries!!!
Ballard will draft one and I think we slide goncalves in at guard this year. We’ve lost a lot of depth now with fries and Kelly gone, but if there’s one thing Ballard is good at. It’s drafting OL
Good for him and good for their new de facto rookie QB JJ. I am not too worried about replacing him. If there is one position group Ballard is elite at with drafting, it’s OL.
Not surprised about the money either. People often talk about a starting QB as being hard to find, OL depth is in an even and much worse state than that: the worst starting QB is a functional player, the worst starting OL’s ahouldn’t even be in the league. So any solid starting caliber OL, regardless of role, is going to get paid.
Someone check on Zach Hicks
Good for him, but that’s too much money for what he has shown.
Can’t keep Fries and sign the upgrades on defense Indy desperately needed. Between Smith, Glow, and Goncalves I feel good on the right side. Grab a couple of developmental O lineman late like they always do and move forward.
