  1. Both Soto's & Ohtani's present value was $460mil for their contracts. Vlad was asking for more than them. Not surprising that Jays wouldn't meet it.

  2. Why does that even matter?! If vlad truly wanted to stay here he would understand that deferrals would help the team overall, the guy isn’t worth $500,000,000, the fact that we were even willing to go that high is crazy. Sure, it’s tough because we’ll probably lose Vlad, but I just can’t see why we’d give a guy who hasn’t been consistent more money than Aaron Judge.

  3. trade him at the deadline. I wouldn't be surprised if he is booed at home this season. Canadians love to boo as we know. Vladdy has always seemed to have an inflated value of self worth, bordering on delusional.

  4. Wait: the jays offered 450 in present day value (pdv) with 50 in deferred. You said Vladdy wanted 500 pdv + some unknown (possibly 0) in deferred. Notice they said 'towards the end Vladdy hexwas willling to considered deferred but his offer never went below 500 pdv'. So his demands were probably more than 500 just that at minimum whatever the demand was needed to include 500 pdv

  5. The Jays front office have done enough and made an offer in good faith. I would try one last time but trade him if no agreement can be reached. Trade him before the trade deadline to get max value. Really not seeing anyone bashing the front office Nick.

  6. it is too late now anyways the deadline has passed, so why even talk about it. Vladdy is going to free agency and is going to get a butt ton of money, but it won't be from the Blue Jays.

  7. Why would he give the jays a discount on his asking price when this front office manipulated his service time and took him to arbitration over 1 mil. He owes the Jays front office absolutely nothing.

  8. Vlad, after 6 seasons has 23 BWAR*.
Gimenez will be higher after 6 seasons and Varsho will be very similar.
    What are we paying for?

Santander put up 14 more HRs and got half of Vlad's current arb deal. So it isnt the power. (That doesnt exist beyond the 21hr in 42 games in buffalo/dunedin. His season pace was 67 before returning home)

It's certainly not the clutch. He has 11 HRs off 95+ , two of which came off 97+. That's more than half the bullpen aems in baseball. He's sub .800 ops in 'Late and close ' situations and 3/22 in the playoffs as well.

He's the worst baserunner, despite trying so damn hard not to be.

His fielding is adequate for first. It really is.

I think he's just started and this whole thingbis unfortunate, but unavoidable.

We made the playoffs twice when he was the equivalent of 2024 Horowitz, so Im not prepared to say he's irreplaceable.

*I know BWAR favors my argument and Defense but that's because fWAR bases run prevention on FIP, which is not a true stat – Tho handy to measure vs era to determine luck.
It blames all runs and hits (except HR) on defense, which is BS.

  9. No sports figure is worth more than a 5 million dollar contract per year – NONE! ..the fact that these two sides and tussling over 50 million (a number amount that would feed poverty well for a while) is sickening about humanity. The hypocrisy of wanting "safety" and peace and love, yet willing to pay Vlad or Soto or Ohtani more money than doctors, healers, or feeding, housing, clothing the needy shows how dumb humans are! There is no reason for poverty, but when you make decision like supporting sports players to make million per year for playing a game that has ZERO consequence on your survival – is dirt dumb! The majority of people make less than 10% of 450 million over that term and then have to sit and watch these millionaire babies play victim – hold the city hostage for an "unfair" monetary valuation. Sports is not the entertainment industry, if it was, the outcomes would be scripted and you would get paid per game, maybe per year for some elite players – it is a business of owners and workers, this is capitalism – if you (sports players) think because of you, they are coming, well here is the truth there are more "you's" around/coming that make you expendable, just like every other capitalist job out there, workers are plentiful and workers at high skills are available. Just because you make your company money doesn't mean your value gets paid accurately … this is capitalism. It sucks, but can't cry about it because you buy into it, and support it – BUT you can still be real to the truth! Owners make money, workers make it happen for little in return. Don't like it, be an owner. The lack of appreciation from Vlad is sickening, and unhuman, yet he gets cheered like a hero – with a false of accomplishment…yea, I just hit a ball a few hundred yards, 500 million me please! And you who just saved a life, eff ya, here's a few grand, now get to work! Seems sensible right humans?

  10. The problem is that it doesn't matter whether any of us think he's worth $500 million. He's worth it because he knows that someone out there will be willing to pay it, and the worth of something is what someone is willing to pay. We just saw $700 million for Ohtani with deferrals two years ago and $765 million for Soto without deferrals this past offseason, with every offseason the price of top-tier free agents goes up, and Vlad right now is in that top tier. It only takes one owner with deep pockets and another All-Star or better season from Vlad to drive the price up. He doesn't even have to be in the conversation for MVP. He just has to be good enough to be put in the Midsummer Classic at roughly the 5th inning and someone will fork over the money. Cohen, Moreno, Henry, maybe even Steinbrenner. And if any of them pay him, then he's worth it, full stop.

  11. While I'm aware that he really didn't want to leave the Mets, Pete Alonso signed for 2 years, $54 mil. The Blue Jays should have offered him around 3 years, $85 mil (or bit more); maybe he would have accepted this.

  12. If he doesn’t want to sign for that kind of money , trade his ass and get a good package for him before we get nothing for him , and he isn’t worth 500 million

  13. Fock vlad Greeeeeeeeeeeedy wow Hope he has less than 20hr 240 avg rather that than us make 2nd rnd and out if he hit 45 hr 330 svg !!! So he gets less than 100 mill lol woooooooooo

  14. Well, if Vladdy could produce long term it may be digestible. Problem is what if Vladdy has 10 bad years or is hobbled by a significant injury? This is all gambling as much as we may like Vladdy in general.

  15. I’m not sure we know the exact values regardless of reports. However, if it’s true that it was only 50m off over 14 years then the Jays are stupid to not take it. What if he wins mvp this year ? Not saying it’s going to happen but if it does then Vladdys ask is going to be 100m more

  16. i get both sides now however if front office signed him earlier they would not be in this problem hope they come to an agreement if not trade him prefeberly to a team away as much of that would be a dissapointment because i want him to stay and fans want him stay i believe because if he goes to free agency and does well some team will pay his contract but if he has a down year im not sure he will get what he wants. However its a crazy amount of money these players are getting imho

  17. I really don't care, haven't for a couple of years now, what happens on the field until the Front office has been renovated top to bottom.
    This has gotten beyond ridiculous.
    Go Dodgers.
