From “Fernando Tatis Jr. ignites MVP campaign with electrifying start as San Diego Padres blaze their trail against Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani expectations”
Fernando Tatis Jr. has emerged as a frontrunner for the league’s Most Valuable Player award. Last season, he recorded 21 home runs alongside 49 RBIs, posting a slash line of .276/.340/.492 with an OPS of .833, despite missing significant time due to a stress fracture in his femur. His return this season has rekindled excitement, as early signs indicate a rejuvenated performance reminiscent of his brief, yet explosive, postseason run where he showcased a remarkable offensive output. Starting the season in the leadoff spot, Tatis is already contributing on both sides of the game, demonstrating a promising blend of power and speed.
From Padres' $340 Million Superstar Predicted to Beat Out Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani for MVP
Bleacher Report's MLB insider Eric Ball recently made his picks for the highest baseball accolades…Ball's pick for NL MVP is Fernando Tatis Jr. He hit 21 home runs last year, 49 RBIs, and a slashline of .276/.340/.492 with an OPS of .833. He was also out for 60 games due to a stress fracture in his femur. When it seemed like the superstar was finally back to full health in October, he was surely playing like an MVP. His four postseason home runs plus a slash line of .423/.500/1.000 with an insane OPS of 1.500 through just seven games were only a small sample of what a healthy Tatis can do for 162 games.
What are we thinking…can our boy Nando dethrone Ohtani and lead us back to the post?
Cuz I’m all the way in.

He has such a sick swing. Reminds me a little bit of the old Barry bonds/ griffy swing. Imquestion is is he better in the 1 or the 3/4 spot.
Forget ohtani, can tatis beat Merrill for MVP?
The only team anyone east of the Rockies cares about is the dodgers. If they are above .500, they’re the only team getting by covered. It sucks, but I’ve been a fan for a long time, this is how it always is. Don’t expect any respect from the national press or awards unless our guy is so far ahead in every statistical category that it would be literally insane to give it to anyone else.
Hey need to put up about 10 war.
So looking at 6-7 offensive war plus 3-4 defensive war.
Probably 30-30 plus a platinum glove to sniff that.
A healthy full season of Tatis could definitely win an MVP. Having said that, that first article is 100% AI generated shit and the SI article most likely is too
Stay healthy!
