Why The Toronto Maple Leafs “WILL WIN” The Stanley Cup

Today let’s delve into one of the more expected stories from the NHL Season the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have clinched their 9th consecutive playoff berth and again have very high expectations heading into the postseason this year. However like most seasons there is a ton of skepticism regarding how far Toronto will go in the playoffs based on their history. In this video I am hear to explain why this year will actually be different for the Leafs and why they may actually surprise the hockey world and go on a deep run. 1. No offence to the video creator, but thinking a team that’s flamed out of the playoffs for 9 years in a row and only winning ONE round in that time is suddenly going to win the cup? That strikes me as delusion.

The ‘core’ of this team still lacks the grit and ability to excel in the playoffs. I’d be highly skeptical they’re going to do anything more than win a round.

  2. I predict that they will be illuminated on the FIRST ROUND. It's written in the stars. The Maple Leafs have incredible talent but lack the most important PATION.

  3. The problem you're overlooking is all of these statistics are based in the regular season, where they've proven every year they have no problem finding success. The problem with this team is it takes a different style of play to win in the playoffs than in the regular season, which this group has never been able to do.

  4. The playoff second round make no sense, zero. We could have leafs vs tampa, both over 100 pts. the other series could have jersey vs habs. both mid to low 90s.Why not be fair and line the teams 1 to 4 .

  5. Oh no brother root for florida they have been to 2 finals won last year and they have the playoff experience and the championship dna now the leafs will not beat them

  6. What (?) This will not happen this season, unless they go out and buy a fake one or league officials. On a serious note, I do believe Toronto has a great team, one of the top in the NHL, however, I also believe the Maple Leafs have tanked too soon, they have peaked about 4–5 weeks before the start of playoffs

  7. 65yr fan and have seen many things with this team and will state once again that they will play Ottawa and be swept out in 4! This team is not built for the playoffs. They are definitely not built for a team like Ottawa. Toronto is a bunch of individual players that consistently disappears in the playoffs. They will prove this true once again this year.

  8. I’d talk about how they might finally get past the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time in the history of the maple leafs

  9. Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy…
You needn’t bother to waste any time going over regular season stats which have proven time and time again to be 100% irrelevant with this franchise…..especially the grossly overpaid core 4 of Marner, Tavares, Matthews and Nylander. It DOESN’T MATTER what they do from September to April when all they do post-season is flick off the lights and go to sleep. You say they’re winning the Stanley Cup but failed to mention what year.

  10. Matthews has had a downturn in his SCORING, but his OVERALL game has improved, especially his defensive play. I'd like to see him figure out how to mesh the defense WITH scoring before the playoffs, but I'm not holding my breath…

  11. Brother as a leafs fan- I doubt they’ll even beat the sens tbh. They’re a sneaky good team. I was hoping they wouldn’t be first in the division so the first round lose would’ve been less of a sting

  12. not to be bias as a panthers fan but were purposely tanking so we end up facing toronto round one. meaning toronto is the easiest option between ottawa tampa and toronto lol

  13. Being a Boston fan and cheering for the Leafs in the playoffs is sicko behaviour.

Anyway, I don't see it. They've made good additions on defence, but they don't have a number-one guy, which means they rely on their forwards for offence. Their goaltending is vastly better, but I still think that they'll come up short again, especially with Matthews hurt. I'm not sure that they're well-suited to play Ottawa in the first round if that is their match-up. We've never seen Brady Tkachuk in the playoffs, but he's the kind of guy that the Leafs have been unable to find answers for in the past. Florida actually might be an easier match-up, given their Cup fatigue.

Given all the expiring contracts, it's not gonna get easier for the Leafs. OEL had a good year, but there's a reason Vancouver bought out his contract. The Chris Tanev contract is a time bomb. Matthew Knies is the guy that reporters covering other teams are talking about as an offer sheet candidate. Marner is gonna demand a huge payday, and might go elsewhere to get it.

  14. Ya sure bud sure. I’ve been a die hard Leafs fan for 35 years. If there is one thing I’ve learned it’s that the Leafs will always find a way to lose come the playoffs. Doesn’t matter what changes with personnel or coaching systems.
