Past 105 years is practically saying since baseball was invented right? Time to get my Merrill jersey ASAP!
Honestly I love how quietly he’s done it too.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Tatis and his first year was the most hype I’ve ever been for baseball- I almost named my cat after him. But, when Tatis came up, everyone knew about him. He was THE star of baseball, and pretty quickly a star outside of baseball.
Merrill feels like he’s still somehow a niche name. Yeah, baseball fans know him- but he’s not a breakout star that everyone knows. Certainly not to the degree he should be known- putting up these kind of numbers.
And he’s ours for another 9 years!
Jackson Merrill is like our version of the Tungsten Arm O’Doyle tweet, except that the Padres are actually winning. It’s like new records fall every week with him lol
