  1. Teams have been pitching around Ozuna and Olson. The next guys going after them have to step up and make teams pay for that approach.

  2. Braves have earned this 0-7 start. They're going to have to earn their way out of this somehow with a subpar outfield(until Acuña returns/), shortstop? and a subpar bullpen. Figure it out!!

  3. I just don't see Baldwin staying at the MLB level. AA has talked about how much the Braves FO values playing time and experience for catchers. They've also cleared the way for Murphy to start every day by letting Travis go. To then backtrack on both of those things and split time between Murphy and Baldwin would be odd.

Maybe McCann doesn't look great and they felt Delay was a better fit for an emergency/backup catcher? Delay gives them more options than Tromp because he can be sent down so it's insurance for when they have to DFA Tromp as you mentioned.

Baldwin has looked great at the MLB level. He also just turned 24 and has fewer than 100 at bats in AAA. I think he's sent down to get consistent playing time in AAA and continue learning from Leon while Murphy/McCann/Tromp/Delay are at the MLB level.

  4. Sounds just like last season: their predictive metrics are great. But it doesn’t matter if you keep hitting balls hard if they’re going right at guys who are positioned perfectly in the age of defensive analytics. Team is too dependent on power, too many all or nothing bats. Need some small ball like we saw Wednesday night.

  5. This video was supposed to be titled "what isn't wrong with the braves offense" but the resulting video wasn't long enough to monetize.

edit: glad to see the braves getting a few runs but it's still not what you want to see against the marlins. Schwelly is the team ace right now though.

  6. Bad luck is an excuse for a 7 game sample size but this is 169. Luck can’t be the excuse forever. At some point can we start talking about maybe these players swings are causing “poor” hard hit balls? Like hitting a 105 mph grounder to first shouldn’t count as a hard hit? It just doesn’t make sense to have bad luck for this long.

  7. Thanks again for the content Lindsey, I believe they will get it together and things will turn around sooner than we think! If I remember correctly when the Texas Rangers won the World Series their season starts off terribly. They were absolutely horrible in the beginning, but once they got things going they could and would not be stopped.

  8. How is swinging less in the zone good?. Those are the pitches you should be swinging at all the time. Stop with the stats. AA spent money to early on these guys. This roster is built bad. Until that is addressed, this is what it is. Let's be honest bra especially fan. This roster needs far more contact guys. That would make pitchers stress. Thus 456 get better pitchers. If one and two were true one and two..4 5 6 woukd see more strikes. Thus more hits..simple. stop with all the tricky numbers. Blame Aa finally. Then fix this. Oh yeah. They are resetting the tax because AA voided arbitration. With bad contracts.and overpaid two As

  9. Thank you for your explanations of the analytics. Anytime you try to change your approach with a new thought process it will take time to get your timing up to par. Great episode today Lindsay.
