  3. Brice Turang… Great year so far. But what could make it greater?

    How about being named Captain of the infield and starting at SS for the remainder of the year? Turang will still have enough reps at SS to win gold glove there and if he wins platinum, it'll be the 1st time someone wins back to back platinums at 2 different positions. Maybe the brass should take Dominic Controneo's advice and quickly sign Turang now for an extension.

    So, with Turang at SS, the Brewers will have the optimal setup for their best defense on the infield. Turang will field grounders that even Ortiz cannot get to. So, 2B will go to Caleb Durbin, who is a decent defensive 2nd baseman. So far in Nashville Durbin has 34 at bats and is hitting .294 with an OPS of .892. Compare this to his two competitors: Andrew Monesterio at Nashville has 32 at bats and is hitting .125 and an OPS of .325. Vinny Capra who won the job early this year but is batting .130 with an OPS of .391 could easily be replaced by Caleb Durbin.

    Joey Ortiz goes back at 3B with Oliver Dunn as the infielding backup.

  4. Really concerned about the left side of the infield. Good defense but wow! what a mess at the plate. Dunn .402, Capra .391, Ortiz .386 OPS – ouch!! Really hoping Durbin is a viable 3b candidate. One small thing about Chourio: 15 Ks, 0 BB … but I assume the walks will come soon when teams start pitching around him…

  9. I really want to see them play against some better teams. It looks like they will be here soon. They have to hit the ball like this against those teams and hold them to minimum runs for me to have high hopes. Great game, and finally, they gave Freddy some runs, lol. The cubs are some thing to not mess around with. They look good this year.

  11. Chuck, do you know what happened to Athletic Trainers Scott Barringer and Theresa Lau? They don’t appear to be with the Brewers anymore. When Isaac Collins got hurt in the 2nd inning, it was surprising to not see Scott Barringer come out of the dugout. Any idea what’s up?

  12. Glad to see the big 3finally showing some life. Yeli looked so bad ist 3 ABs, 6 swings and misses on pitches 18 inches below the zone. Why doesn't he do what he's really good at ?? How's about a couple of bunts??

  14. I'm content with being patient with Ortiz at SS. His offense has been sluggish, obviously, but his strikeout rate is low (16%). He's putting the ball in play; he needs some more time.

  17. To varying degrees, it seems that the Brewers have been on the losing end of trades over the last few years. Anyone agree, or am I just being negative? In some cases, teams are aware that the Brewers are unable/unwilling to pay their stars, but that doesn't diminish the value of a player like Burnes or Williams. Why does it seem that the Brewers are willing to settle for less? Also, the Priester/Rodriguez trade reeks of desperation. It had better be desperation, because if it isn't, it's simply seems a little dumb.

  18. This is our Brewers. Play bad series against big money clubs. Beat up on small market teams like us. Survive injuries, and keep running with Murph's motto, F'in RELENTLESS. We are gonna win close to 90, and get crushed in the playoffs. Just another standard year of Brewers baseball. At least most of the games will be entertaining to watch 🙂
