[JFresh] Bowen Byram has one of the biggest gaps between skill and actual impact on the ice I can remember

  1. I think this is the perfect way to phrase it. Everything about Byram looks like a good player yet the team is not very good when he’s on the ice (unless he’s with Dahlin).

This isn’t just a Sabres issue either, his decline started in Colorado which is why they were willing to trade him in the first place.

Handing out big money long term to Byram could be one of the worst moves we make this offseason. He needs to either be traded or kept on a medium money bridge.

  2. It’ll be a very Sabres move to panic about Power and give Byram the money he wants this offseason.

  3. I hope we trade him before he’s offer sheeted. More likely we do the dumb thing

  4. I kind of agree. He has been one of my favorite players since coming into the league but he seems to be regressing.

Not sure what his advance stats are but whenever I watch him he seems unsure and has too many turnovers. He just seems to lack confidence. Maybe he is a bit shell shocked with the Buffalo experience. At the same time he is only 23.

I wouldn’t be giving him one of those 8 year deals like they did with Powers. I would only be open to a bridge deal. Maybe 2 year deal at $5-6 mil per like they did with Dahlin.

Definitely real like the player, I would give him more time unless he is just not feeling it in Buffalo then it makes sense to deal him while his value is high like they did with Middlestadt.
