What the hell was he thinking?

In day 2 of the NHL Playoffs, we saw the Carolina Hurricanes lay an absolute pounding on the New Jersey Devils who lost 3 players due to injury during this game. Facing 45 shots, Jacob Markstrom was great despite being peppered by the Canes. However, in the 3rd period he made a huge mistake. Going to slash Svechnikov in front of his own net, he instead caught Cody Glass who went down and actually left the game. He landed awkwardly on his right knee as during the same sequence, Luke Hughes went flying into his own net in a crazy shift that saw 2 Devils players leave the ice at the same time. This, after Brendan Dillon had already left the game earlier in the 2nd period due to an awkward collision with Carrier. It was truly a brutal game for the Devils who were already banged up coming into this series. I cover it all and more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. Who cares? Take away the revenue generated by broadcasting rights, ticket sales, advertising, etc., and none of this bull** would ever be occurring in the first place. Deserving teams are subject to waisting physical energy and health risks for what? All of this bull** is just plain stupid (sorry , NHL). πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘ŽβœŒοΈ

  2. That slash should gave gotten him a 2, a five a game and sit for 7. There is no place for that. Since it was their own player, they should also be forbidden from replacing him for the series if he is unable to play. They should be required to play a short bench.

  3. The problem is the canes are like sharks as soon as the devils get the puck they can’t even keep it. Thank god for markstrom, also they should get rid of jack hughes he is always injured.

  4. As a Devils fan this game made me wince more times than a trip to an msg bathroom between periods 2 and 3. Carolina has such a dominating team this year Id be consoled with just one win this series. The Devils need a few more parts to be more of a playoff run team. But let's go Devils anyway!!

  5. Canadian here. New Jersey goalie should have gotten a minor penalty for slashing because he intentionally hit a player with his stick. The rules don’t differentiate between an opponent or a teammate who received the slash. It’s the intent behind the act.

  6. #1. Lots of black on the NJ uniforms, might not be easy to tell them apart out of the corner of your eye at game speed. This is one advantage of uni-colour uniforms (although they are ugly).
#2. I wonder if goalie can get a 10-minute or game misconduct for blasting a team-mate like that (but I am not curious enough to look up the rules).
