2. I'm not gonna start with the negativity yet, it's too early for that crap. Game 2: I wanna see a win, but not just a win… a response! 4. Keefe is basically working with three competent scorers, no defense, guys not playing up to their contract (Hamilton, Mercer, Pesce, Palat), bums (Haula, Bastian), and a cast of Ahl'ers. Marky can't score. This falls on Fitz and his miserly bosses, who want to save every penny for their NFL team. Fitz doesn't believe in this squad and neither do the owners, which is why no LTIR is ever used and why he never makes significant in season moves. It's the Hughes Bros media show (to get casual fans in the building and sell merch) and nothing more. That's how it appears …

5. Stay out of the box. Carolina gains ALL their momentum from the power play. I don’t think the first was as bad as you say….now the second was BRUTAL. But in the first, 5 on 5 play, we held possession. Key to beating the hurricanes is possession. They need to adjust and not play dump and chase hockey if they aren’t willing to go hard into the corners. 10. @Ace I do not believe you defend against a team like Carolina. You simply cannot sit back and defend they WILL cave you in…clearly which they did. Devils have to play their game attack attack attack. Sitting back against a team like that just will not do it.

11. Disappointed but not surprised as a long time Hockey fan I know there is no magic button to go from going through the motions to Stanley Cup Champion. Devils did try but as a veteran team that is battle tested the Canes impose their will and controlled the game from very early on. I really don't see how we can turn this around because we haven't really shown any reason to believe otherwise. As I told my season ticket rep when he asked "Can I put you down for some playoff strips? " No, I don't think so I've spent enough money this year on watching mediocre hockey".

    NOTHING is ever going to change with this team with Fitz at the helm. Guy is a yes man for HBSE and they don’t care about winning. It’s all about getting whatever revenue they can during regular season. Clear to see when two years in a row they simply pocket IR money and we do basically nothing before the deadline.

20. All I was expecting was for the team to be competitive and to show more structure and attention to detail than they did in 23. What a massive disappointment yesterday’s game was. I have absolutely zero enthusiasm for the remainder of the games after what transpired in game 1. Now with the additional injuries, I’m not even sure they’ll be able to even enjoy a lead in any game, let alone win one.

24. you see all other series games and all the player hustle, fight and skate with desperation and grit, you see the devils and gives me a depression, just watching mercer and some other its like going back to my old hockey team back on 2000, some of them have no idea on whats going on and how to connect with other team mates, its very sad. I hope they defeat the canes but honestly I dont see it happen, right now our team its worst than the Sharks (and they are out on vacations)

26. Unfortunately not a lot to say. The Devils we all feared would show up, did. I don't know if I'd say the Devils were asleep, but the Canes were running circles around us. They looked like a playoff team and we did not. We've barely looked like one since the Christmas break. Marky is a god and deserves some kind of statue for blocking 16 shots in the first period alone. He also deserves the teammates that allowed 20 or less shots 7 games in a row. Ace the sad part is that if you watched the full game (i know a lot of fans didnt watch the 3rd period) this was a game the devils could’ve stolen just off of markstrom’s performance but no one can score outside of nico and bratt. This is a series where you NEED Jack hughes to just shoot the puck 10 times a game all by himself. If they’re gonna win games this series the score is gonna have to be low we cant keep up with carolina’s offense without jack its a fact

29. I’ve never been a fan of Marky before , even less I am now . I don’t hang this loss on him by any means but the guy has some serious issues . When he was breaking his stick after lousy performance on multiple occasions you called it “high compete level “ . What do you call slashing your teammate into injury ? Ok , it was accidental , but what would you call serious intentional injury to opponent ? Sportsmanlike conduct ? Also , under the game highlights some Flames fans commented that allowing a goal on the first shot has been Marky’s signature move . Regardless how well you play after , it gives a starting tone to the game . There’s something else : officially we’ve had goaltending problems for years , so how is it that Blackwood is a star on a cup worthy team ?

30. Wow, that was embarrassing. One of the worst parts of it was the player reactions after the game. It's such a loser's mentality. Obviously, we don't know what happens in the room but someone needs to be kicking over trash cans and yelling. This is the playoffs! I don't see the fire in the players. If you can't show that in the playoffs, you don't deserve to be there. With all of that being said, they are not a well constructed team. Of course, I will be cheering them on for Game 2!

31. Well Ace, all i know is if we don't win game 2 down in Carolina then our chances of catching the series possibly goes out the door. Game 2 is a win now and must win situation if they want to keep our playoff hopes alive, bad enough the entire world and the entire league are doubting us. as for our powerplay i only shit on it because we cant score on it, yes we are second in the league for powerplay but they aren't playing like they are second in the league on powerplay. hoping for a better game 2 because if not we are doomed to be eliminated. 32. Taylor Hall will be the best player in the Series. Already has 2 assist. He’s flying around there chip on his shoulder now, he’ll be comfortable playing at the rock, really hope management atleast makes him an offer this offseason already has chemistry with Jack and Nico

34. i honestly feel bad for marky because he was making amazing saves but the devils players just couldn’t keep it out of the zone for long periods of time. i hope the next game goes better but the devils offense definitely needs to step up their game!

37. Pros : marky, we matched in physicality, showed better performance in the 3rd as the hurricanes looked slower from that pace in the 1st and 2nd. Can’t get worse than that overall performance in game 1

    Cons : we were outskilled as a whole, slower, couldn’t manage their pressure, sloppy passing and containment of the puck, no true offense or pressure on the opposing net.

    Marky gave us a chance to bounce back but with those many shots on goal on our net, we were bound to lose. Our offense needs to apply pressure and score on chances. We need to score first, when we score first we perform so much better and have a better W/L record. Match their pace or force the game to be payed at ours. They were bullying us and it showed that some players were uncomfortable.

    Game 2 now, let’s steal one.

38. As a Hurricanes fan, the word I would use to describe the Devils in Game 1 would be disheveled. Very little connection from player to player very little cohesion into a game plan. I don't know if it was the building or the vibes going into the Playoffs or the coaching or all of the above, but the Devils looked positively disheveled.

    Just found your channel here, and I like what I see. Very honest, but not a downer. I know from experience that the road has been a huge problem for us (Canes) in recent Playoffs, so even if we win Game 2, the series could change going to the Rock.

43. God I hate the Hurricanes so much. It’s not their fault, but the moment we were even looking like playing them I was wishing we could take a rain check. But I won’t think my team is out until they are, they just have to get pissed and punish them all night long. Even if we don’t win, make them earn it. I’m feeling pretty fed up with this Devils team though. Lack of consistency season after season, flashes of brilliance that fizzles out never to be seen again the rest of the season. And if they’re all going to get injured build a team with that in mind. We don’t have arguably our most dynamic player right now, but it shouldn’t all be on his or Nico’s shoulders. Man I’m disappointed, unfortunately not surprised, but I’m going to keep rooting for them until they’re out. LGD!!!
